Anyone tried one of these variable magnifiers?

A friend has one. The eye relief is so far out that even pushing the Eocrap to the furthest position on the rail caused him to have to extend his stock fully. They state a 4" eye relief but that has to be at 5x, it's more like 5-6" overall.

I've never really been impressed with any Lucid products. Seem like they are geared towards the super low end. I'd rather use PA optics.
