Many of you may recognize this handguard right away, I purposely covered the name for time being because the first time this company was brought up to me I just made an ugly face. After so many others bragging on another forum I decided I had to see for myself and I am impressed. I have felt for a while the CMR was the perfect rail for a CMT upper, until I mated this baby up to my UPR-4. You almost have to see in person to appreciate with my crappy pics and the feel is light and rock solid. Can anyone guess what rail this is?

UTG PRO

Dangit GOST, that was too quick. Yep and the tabs that hang off the back of the rail are a perfect fit in the small area upfront of the receiver, blends everything in very nice. Even in mockup with no screws it's a solid mate and gives a monolithic look and feel. For a low priced rail it offers a very nice finish and great looks.

I thought you were going to steal my thunder as I was contemplating on what handguard to put on my own CMT Build. [:D]

You know, I'm not surprised that UTG finally got some decent looking rails out. I mean these simple extrusion handguards shouldn't be much of a challenge. How much was it?

That review involved no shooting or actual use of the rail, other than some dude raving about fit and finish...

There are plenty of other proven manufacturers for me to spend any money on UTG stuff.

I was thinking they do look halfway decent this weekend. They were everywhere at the gun show. Korean guy tried to sell me one...along with a $12 poly mag that he said was "from Korea, half price. $12." Right beside the $9 pmag booth.

I picked this one up on a deal for $120 it's the 13'' model. Not dirt cheap but cheap compared to many of the others I've been looking at. I see them a lot for $140. UW you got way too much ammunition for me to steal your thunder! Anyway just wanted to share that in fact this rail is a great match for the CMT and affordable as a plus. You really need to hold the setup to appreciate the fit and feel.

I think the $12 no name poly mag and UTG rails would have been good options when everyone was selling top end gear for full price. Now that Colts are $850, and BCM is giving away their BCG's with uppers, the cheap accessory market has little to no traction.

Can't wait to get out and put her through the paces UW and will report back. So far my only worry would be heat, this thing is really slim, and for hunting no heat but the sound it gives off. Yea I know sounds weird but if I run my finger over the keymods just right it has a fairly loud metallic sound, may be real loud in the woods. Only problem is it may be a while before field use, the intended caliber this is for doesn't really exist yet, maybe 6 weeks out. And of course I still need that matching CMT Ambi lower!

LOL... I definitely have my favorite hand guards.

Geissele
Centurion Arms
KAC

Rainier FORCE/EVO for budget builds. With the discount, the RA handguards are probably just as cheap as the UTG ones, so that's really the main reason I don't think I'd go with them.

Speaking of handguards, UW have you laid eyes on the Erathr3 NXR yet?

I think it's safe to say that EraThr3 is going to be out of the UW budget.

I'm going to Grants Pass at the end of the month, hopefully, I'll see Sheri and pick her brain over some teriyaki.

It looks like EraThr3's sales technique is show you a bunch of stuff you can't afford, which isn't in-stock. So you'll buy a shirt or hat, which is in-stock. Then you'll feel like the girl in the mall who couldn't afford a Louis Vuitton bag, so she bought their t-shirt...
BRILLIANT!!!

I need a hat.

Wouldn't mind a sticker for the gun bench, bomber shirt looks cool. Do want to see the rail but cringe at what the price may be.

Looks good, whats the mounting system/BN like? For the price it's quite attractive. Having both Keymod and Mlok i'm torn between which I'm more partial to at this point

Barrel nut is fairly different. Uses it's own wrench of course, no indexing just put the wrench in the 2 slots and torque. I'll post a pic tomorrow.
