View Full Version : Bobro Engineering Lowrider Sights

These super low profile sights were spotted at Bobro Engineering (http://bobroengineering.com/). They look to be both lightweight, 1.7oz for the pair, and so low, it clears most objective lenses on magnified optics.

We designed a set of sights that are truly low profile.

Design requirements—

1-Low as possible
2-Durable
3-Locks on opening
4-Fits under optics/mounts
5-Lightweight

We designed a side pivot mechanism for strength and the lowest possible profile that will remain durable. The side pivot has internal detents, and we also incorporated a drive pin lock system. You must depress a button to fold them back down.

At 1.7 oz. I'm guessing they're aluminum? Be interesting to see the pricing. Also wonder if they're lower profile than the MBUS PRO?

At 2/10ths of an inch, I would say so.

Yeah! Let's see some QDs. Then we can mount backups to our backup sights. BUBUIS security for the ultra paranoids.

I love bobro gear and Andrew is a good guy. However, these aren't something I'd buy except to solve a problem. The problem is obvious and if you don't have it, keep what ya got. My .02

Surprised they are actually lower than I thought. Considering that Diamondheads can be north of $200, that's not bad at all before their LE/MIL discount.

With Kyle onboard and Bobro's quality these sights are becoming very interesting. My Bobro's mount on my SRS is great.

Would they be a good choice for primary sights, not just backup sights?

Personally, if I'm using irons all the time, I prefer a fixed front post. That being said, im not sure you can beat bobro quality, so yes, I think they would be an awesome set of sights to use in any situation. Like the facebook post says, at worst they are half as thin as the competitors on the market.

Thanks for replying. I'm thinking I will start out with irons and eventually add an optic of some sort. 1-4 or red-dot.

Thanks for the heads up. Just snagged one of the ten on Revolvr. Having traded my last spare pair of Mbus Pros, I can rationalize the need.

Ha! That's exactly how most people make their purchases... self rationalization! I can't wait to see what your thoughts are after you use them. Keep us posted.

I took the Bobros to the range today. Ran out of time zeroing 3 optics so didn't even sight through them. But I can already say I won't be buying another set. They have the usual exquisite machining and are as low as they appear. The no-go for me is the windage adjustment screw and protective housing that juts out sharply near the grip of the charging handle. "Ouch" every time I pull quickly. Yes, other BUIS stick out more, but further up the shaft leaving an adequite open area as shown on the Mbus Pro.

The set will go from the mid-range defense carbine shown to a precision gun with bi-pod where fast mag changes aren't part of the drill. I could mount the rear quite a bit forward with a red dot, but think that looks doofy. Bobro is still my favorite for optics mounts and as Joe E. Brown said to Jack Lemmon: "Nobody's perfect!"

Yes, the bottom lower ain't staked. Might be switching out.
