Test went 500 seconds on a brand new install, so that was good.

I was involved in a lot of the demo, fab, install, etc, for all of this to happen on this test stand. We also do full test support.

Very cool! I love looking at this kind of stuff, I'm a little envious of you right now

Meh. It's not all like that! LOL But it's fun when it goes off. Today I'm spending 10 hours draining the header that feeds the cooling water for that flame bucket. Good OT though.

Ha yeah I'm sure seeing something you work on light off for the first time is especially cool.

How loud is something like that? If there is even a word to describe it...

This is what we're working on next. Going to cluster fire multiple engines at once.

Lets put it like this. My house is 30 miles away.... And my wife could hear it. All of my friends were posting on Facebook asking what it was. Last night it was cold with heavy cloud cover, so it carried pretty well.

Here is a little documentary about the building and development of SSC.

Nice. I have pulled guard duty on some SLC's at Vandenberg was always cool to watch the Atlas and Titans launch. Even watching the Minuteman foot launches was pretty cool too.

That's awesome! I've never seen a launch. When this project launches, my son will probably be old enough that I can take a trip and he can appreciate it.

Hell, that's nothing. How I do it in Kentucky. Give me a can of re-fried frijoles, an hour to process, and a cigarette lighter, and I can shoot flames clear down to FL for an hour straight....[:D]

That's awesome! I worked a lot of C-5's and 4 TF-39's at full power makes my eyes rattle at 100ft so I can only imagine what that beast sounds like let alone a cluster.

It's crazy. It's a different sound too. It's very "bass-y". It would be ridiculously loud without the water in the bucket. I used to work at the High Pressure Industrial Water section, where they pump the water that supplies those buckets. That's almost as impressive as the rocket engine. 9 diesel water pumps as big as a house running at full song is a hell of a racket.
