Loaded Operator = basically the Long Beach Operator? Wow between this, a Railed Professional, a Warren Tactical, and a 10-8 based build.....I need to make more money.

I'm curious about the features/specs on the new 1911 models, currently looking at a Springfield TRP in stainless.

I was in my LGS today and noticed they had a Range Officer Compact. If I were in the market for a carry 1911, it would be a toss up between that and the scandium framed E-Series by S&W. I'm pretty impressed by what S.A. is bringing to the market these days.

No bobtail model yet. When you look closer at the 1911 lineup, it seems like they don't really know who they are marketing it to. On their site under the description, it says "The Range Officer® Compact means that your favorite range pistol is now easier to carry. " So is it a competition oriented gun, or a CCW oriented gun. Turns out, a little bit of both.

I like the fiber optic front sight, and I'm ok with putting it on a EDC/HD/SD/whatever gun. I feel if they took it one step further with the bobtail, I really don't think there is a better option for the money in a 1911-style format. I hope they aren't falling into the SIG Syndrome of adding cool colors, features and options without actually studying the market and the intended use of the gun and then spec'ing out a sensible, well-built product.

I remember when S.A. came out with the original Range Officer. They offered a well-built, accurate 1911 for competition at a price point that was easy on the bank account, and if you wanted you could send it back in to their Custom Shop and have them checker the front-strap etc. Brilliant. Maybe that's what is intended here.
