I picked up the Barking Spider 2 because I wanted one to replace the Troy claymore on my pistol but I didn’t want to do another KX3 or a KX5. I liked the idea it was modular. You can run it with the thread protector and it will look and operate like a Noveske Piggy brake (KX3/5), krink style break, you can run it with the included and effective 5 prong flash hider or you can run it with a muzzle brake (Dynacomp).

The muzzle device has an outside diameter of 1.4” with the thread protector in place and over all length of 2.2” without the TP and the inner cone piece in place. It is 2.97 with the cone and thread protector as well as 3.7” with the included flash hider.

Comparing it to the noveske KX3 its both shorter and longer depending on how you configure it. It is also a little wider according to my calipers and measuring skills.

As far as performance. It does what its supposed to do. Its noticeable how much lower the decibel level is behind the gun and the blast is non-existent. The flash from what I can tell was also very low. I forgot my tripod or I would have included video of the flash so you will have to take my word for it. I fired the gun with the center cone installed and the thread protector and it felt good. Just as the KX3 does. I then fired the gun without the center cone and boy was that an experience. I suddenly had a flame thrower in my hand. The fireball it spit was huge. I was using my usually Wolf gold 55g ammo and that was pretty cool. Again, wish I brought my tripod. I then put the brake bake together and fired the gun with the flash hider. The thing is very effective. No flash could be seen as far as I can tell. I asked someone else at the range to watch and they also reported no flash.

All in all I am happy with the purchase. One thing I did notice that seemed really interesting. The ejection pattern. The brake must add back pressure because it ejected nicely and consistently to the 2 O’Clock position. When I removed the cone it was very sporadic and I actually ended up getting a hot brass burn on my forearm from brass bouncing off the divider. With the cone installed the brass always went to the 2pm position and missed the divider. Thats good and bad. If I was a reloader I would have needed a brass catcher or all that brass would be unrecoverable without a range officer. I’m running it on the 10.5” Wevo Pistol 5000.

Nice write up. Glad someone here did a review and a measurement without the thread protector. I need to buy calipers for that part and was like, "well. if its 2.2" I cant buy a 13.7" barrel because Ill be .1" off the legal 16"." My buddy was like, you think the ATF will make a stink over .1"? Im like, "yeah I like my job and want no BS jail time."

So 14.5" barrel is my only option. Good news, my rail I ordered is coming in tomorrow. Just need to scrap up for a barrel. Ah the damn barrel.

Question about length: does the 2.2" of the spider include the threaded portion or just that small body beyond the threads?

Would you happen to have calipers to measure the body of the spider (beyond threads with no other screw on attachment [thread protector, dynacomp, etc])

this is the info i got from spike web site
Technical specifications:

Body is CNC machined from Billet 4140 Chromoly BAR stock. It's ball dimpled to reduce weight and to help dissipate heat. The body comes pre-drilled for pinning to the barrel. The Barking Spider™ body is the correct length to make a 14.5" barrel into 16" OAL when perm attached. The body is heat treated and features an extremely durable Black Nitride QPQ finish.

The front hex end is CNC machined from Billet 4140 Chromoly BAR stock, it's also heat treated with a Black Nitride QPQ finish.

The blast cone is CNC machined from Billet H13 Tool Steel, it's also heat treated with a Black Nitride QPQ finish.

The Barking Spider™ has an 8 sided hex in the rear with 3/4" wrench slots which allows easy timing and installation.

The Barking Spider™ includes a thread protector which covers the teeth on the striking device when it's not in use. This eliminates the risk of snagging or damaging the threads. The Barking Spider™ also includes a 5 prong Helix flash suppressor cap which greatly reduces the flash being thrown down range. The Modular design allows you to change configurations around in seconds by simply unscrewing the attachment and screwing on a different one. We offer additional attachments which are not included.

Outside Diameter - 1.4"

OAL (assembled) - 3.75"

Well at least you didn't say "Google it" Luis.

Don't know why I didn't even think of just going on their site. Guess I can't be a detective then. Lol
