Nice bro! Though I'd call her a pure breed after looking at the specs and not a mutt :)

I'm kinda partial to mutts since I'm one myself.[BD]

Very nice assemblage! I definitely think the whole is a lot more than the sum of the parts.

The name on the parts are generally unimportant. As long as they're from a quality vendor/"Manufacturer". Mighty fine boomstick. Enjoy it my Wevo ginger!

Lol....i know..but its sorta a franken gun..yes some good parts...but not a purebreed..and never probably will..anyways..thanks..

I really like this rail, finish is spot on with magpuls fde and it just a nice ,clean simple rail for the price...Also got a parallax M-lok rail to use..

Thanks for the info. One more question about the rail, how is the mounting system? Is is straight forward of hind of crazy like the Seekens or NSR?

Barrel nut on the Parallax is very similar to the NSR. Talking to Joe at Parallax, he agrees the barrel nut/mounting system is a pain and is looking to redesign it.

ya you have seen parts of this here and there, hence the mutt comment as this is about 3 of my rifles into one..hard times. make you liquidate unfortunately..

thanks also deadwing and CS it is like UW says the nut system is very similiar..

That sucks, man. The mere thought of having to liquidate my firearms collection makes me feel a bit ill. Hope things pick up for you!

Wow..been a while.

....Got to shoot this twice in the last week.Seems to run good.might try a carbine buffer in it, has a H in it now. Otherwise it is good, needs a trigger and the VG6 epsilon is badass and a piece of beauty , but a loud SOB...lol...Would like to try a CAGE at sometime..

Hoping sometime this summer to actually sit down and see how this mega barrel performs.

Wow...July was last post..never shot it again till today ..as I was going for something when I started, then in a bind, and had parts leftover got s good deal and bam the mutt,

Running it again the other day I am really not liking how it's layed out, grip angle I'm not digging in the move or standing or especially off the bipod/bag, needs a different grip, and with the stock it's nice but balances way to the front since the mega barrel is decently heavy and the parallax rail..Not sure what I'm gonna do, want to get into done 3 gun style stuff before I get too old, and for me it's way to nose heavy, but then this barrel seems to shoot great, so better cheek weld stock and more magnification scope and have more of a spr type....lol..I don't know..and I'm a broke mofo so trade/sell is my only options at this time ..

Ughhh also this has happened twice with this gun, same pin, Geiselle sm r trigger, got it with no pins do used some pins out of a qms trigger..haven't done any measuring etc, but not sure if somethings slightly out of spec or need to run some kind of trigger pins/kns-like, which I have never before, but then again never used any trigger like this before

Anyone else have similar happen?

Geiselle Hammers do not use a j spring. They have a circle clip that stacks on the side of the hammer to retain the pin. They are a different pin also. They are slightly larger diameter and the retainer grooves are different due to the circle clip.

So...I need these special pins you speak of ...Humm....[BD]

Damnit...

SINNER

If you installed the circle clip then that's the only other difference I know of. IIRC the Geiselle pins have 2 grooves close to the end of the pin. Assuming that is for engagement with the clip.

Thanks for the replies dinner, it was last year I got this trigger and to the best of my memory didn't get any pins with it, almost positive.

Did notice when I installed it, the hammer pin seemed not kosher

So along with my bcg thread tire the trigger out of it, pic shows the hammer as I got it and the normal Milspec pins I was using, definetly tell something doesn't lock when playing with it..Humm remember never had a nice trigger of any sort.

So digging around my small parts container and found what appears to be a new never used pin that seems to match the one on G's site and locks up nice ....so guess I need another pin atleast ..no idea where it came from its new and trigger was used when I got it.

Get the KNS pins with the button head screws and be done. BS like that with Geissele is why I have been using CMC lately.

Deadwing
23 March 2016, 18:06
Geissele sent me a set of pins free because there was slop wen installed in a new lower. Turns out the pins were in spec, and it was the lower that was out of spec. So, i'm surprised that Geissele just didn't send you a new pin. They're usually pretty good about that stuff. I'd hook you up with a spare pin, but it's for an SSA, which uses a different style pin. :/

mustangfreek
26 March 2016, 00:54
Thanks , just three emails from 3 different people linking me to the pins, I only need one damnit... lol

27 March 2016, 21:35
Now that it's apart and I had shot it some , I'm re doing part of this..lol..I'm OCD and after shooting it some throwing this together build even though with some decent parts doesn't fit either side of what I'm after, really front heavy with the mega barrel, which seems to shoot..Grip is outta here, I like the UC grip on the pistol but for some reason not my style while on the ground or whatever.. Rail is sorta heavy...not sure how far but longer it sits waiting I'll get tired of looking at it and tear apart..

Not sure but changing grip, thinking barrel and rail switch...

So version 3.0 mutt is up and running ,trimmed down some weight and changed it up to a 14.5, first run and looking for info on toning it down, first run still had the H in it..anyways

14.5" RA fluted barrel with pinned BC
Geissele 13"
And for now trying my hands on a PA micro, first run with one and first impressions after sighting it in, is I likey..looking forward to shooting it some more, might throw the vortex 1-4 back on later for giggles and see how it shoots some of my hand loads

Needs a light and some kind of heavier buffer/spring but for now ..

Echo Stick's comment. I have Mk4's on both of my rifles and still can't think of a better looking one for my present project. That rifle looks really good! How do you like the minimalist stock? I'm thinking about one for a 14.5" mutt I'm doing. Is it flexy, or stiffer than it looks?

12 May 2016, 08:47
Thanks fellas, liking the balance of this 14.5", took it out again and threw on vortex pst back on and sighted it in, barrel seems like it would should pretty well, got some good groups for shooting off the truck out in the pit at about 90 yards. Would need some more magnification and actually sit down/prone..along with this trigger damn ..

The stock seems more rigid then I thought at first also, locks up tight and I like it for what it is.. For now how it looks..along with Fde mag ....[BD]
