I’ve been using the Bobro Aimpoint Cantilever Mount – 150 for several months now. I used a CompML2 4MOA for this test. The 150 positions the optic to co-witness with the iron sights, which is my preference. For those that prefer the iron sights to appear in the lower third of the optic, the 180 is available. Cost is about $160.

Installation of the optic was straight forward, but different than most Aimpoint mounts. The mounting studs are affixed to the top ring and the nuts screw in from the underside. This makes for a clean appearing mount, but I was concerned that the nuts might have the potential to work free and drop into the great abyss at the worst time. However, I used the included thread locker and they didn’t move.

I was surprised that Bobro claimed that the mount was self-adjusting and would even fit on 1913 rails that were out of spec. So far I have dropped the mount onto: Colt, Armalite, Stag, Olympic Arms, Mega, Rock River and Bushmaster uppers. On each one, the mount locked on solid and would not move in any direction. Of particular interest was an Olympic Arms upper that previously had an ARMS M68 in place and it would slip back and forth with minimal force. Not so with the Bobro mount.

Removing and replacing the mount on the weapon was a simple task. I stopped counting at 100 cycles. There was no visible wear to the mount or upper. I was unable to detect any point of impact shift during about 1k rounds. The mounting lever closes under a fair amount of tension and snaps shut. Removal requires a smaller lever to be depressed at the same time the main lever is pulled out, which prevents inadvertent release.

I had to look really hard to come up with anything negative. I prefer to rotate the Aimpoint flip-up lens covers 180 degrees, so that they flip down, instead of up. I find that flipping them down obstructs less of my view around the optic. Upon rotting them on this mount, the hinged side of the front cover bottoms out against the mount and prevents the cover from opening all the way. Positioning the optic rearward in the mount does however alleviate this issue.
