I'm not that up to speed on PS. I just did a quick copy, paste, crop and tweaked the lighting to bring out some of the detail on the gun. By chance was it shot in RAW?

Nonsense! Take all your shots in RAW is my opinion.

You might be like me and suck at post processing but you can learn both the taking of pictures and processing together. After a year or two of fiddling with it and watching some videos and all that I have a basic understanding.

Plus when you DO get better at post processing with Lightroom or whatever you use you can always revisit some of your old pics and redo them.

Makes sense just changed camera to raw and I used light room to develop then PS to remove the ammo boxes

Do you have lightroom AND photoshop?

In any case if you haven't watched them here are a few videos from Adobe that you will find very interesting. There is an entire series on this stuff.

Watch each of those three and take it from there.

Good first attempt. I'm with Alamo shoot raw from the start. Eric went in the same direction I would have. Turn up the highlights and black. You could also Ty to use some brushing with the dodge tool to get just the gun brighter.
