Comments about the build:

I bought the Spikes Tactical Lower on an impulse. They had a Fourth of July sale and laser engraved Stars-and-Bars on the right side for free. This sale coincided with all the controversy over the flag, and it was a “What the heck – buy one!” When it came in, I thought “Now what do I do with it?”. I don’t have an AR Pistol, so I built one.

Admins: If you receive any complaints, please let me know and I will pull the right side photos.

I should have purchased the BCM Gunfighter Grip Mod 1 instead of the Mod 3. The Rainier Modified Trigger Guard protrudes slightly below the rear receiver trigger guard “ears” and the gap filler on the Mod 3 Pistol Grip would not allow the grip to fully seat. Exacto-Knife fixed the problem.

Mixed emotions on the Oden Extended Mag Release when using KNS dog bones. I had to back the mag release button out two turns before the “paddle” would clear and release magazines. Perfectly functional, but I would have thought Odin Works would have relieved the paddle slightly in anticipation of users with KNS pins.

I was surprised to see the KAK QD End Plate had the center tip ground off. Their standard end plate did not have that done. This made centering the buffer tube a trial and error as tightening the castle nut tended to twist the buffer tube. I will be replacing the KAK QD with a Daniel Defense QD End Plate.

The pistol passed function check and I am looking forward to some range time to zero the Troy irons and the Vortex RDS.

It rained parts for several days

AAC Suppressor does not overload the front-end - still balances fairly well

Jerry, I've been waiting for this thread since you hinted you were waiting for an 8.5" UltraMatch Barrel.

Since you're a southerner, I applaud you for standing up for your heritage and southern history.

Damn Jerry, when I also saw you had hinted at an 8.5" Rainier UltraMatch I was wondering what you were putting together.

Beautiful! Can't wait to see what you think of the Shockwave.

Actually it was a couple of days late - I ordered a Fortis Hammer for this build. Fortis in the spares box, Avalanche in the upper !!

Very nice pile of parts and finished product there jerry, killer pistola!!

I am re thinking ditching my pistol build-over after them pics..would really like to try the shockwave out..

Thanks. I have not used one before. Function testing, it seems nice and crisp with a pull right where advertised. I really want to run it and see how it does.

I think KAK just sent you the wrong end plate so you might want to give them a call. They sell the "modified end plate" with the alignment tab ground off for the pistol buffer tubes that don't use the castle nut, like their Gen 1 and Gen 2 pistol buffer tubes.

Great looking build.

Thanks. I have called them. They looked at the invoice and owned up to shipping the wrong part. I told them I had already replaced the end plate, but they sent me a new one any way. Zero knocks on customer service; stuff happens. Nice folks, good products.

This shot turned out okay. I converted it to a bitmap image and use it for my computer wallpaper. It's pretty big at 1536 pixels. You may need to click it a couple of times to see it full size.

Okay .......... so now I have a couple hundred through the pistol with the Hiperfire FCG. It is their EDT - their entry level (based upon price) fire control group. I installed with the 4.5# spring, and on a Lyman digital trigger pull gauge, it is close enough to not argue with their advertisements. Zero issues with the pistol. It goes bang, positive reset. Like I said, have not put thousands through it yet, but so far I am pleased.

While the price point on the one I selected is below $90 for a complete, drop-in - don't have to remove the selector FCG, I did not pick it based upon price. I wanted to see what their baseline offering would provide.

Even if you are not doing a budget build, I would recommend that you check them out. I like it enough that I ordered their EDT2 from Rainier for the Battle Kitty build.
