The DDMK18 I ordered wasn't for the MK18, just needed another Form 4 lower. Besides that's not a real MK18, ask gatordev, he knows this stuff. I'm actually partial to MK18 Mod 0's vs the DD version which is the CQBR2.

I've got an LMT I've outfitted with a LMT Rear Sight, KAC RAS and a PEQ2, just need the older Aimpoint Mount, but probably won't go with the KAC NT4 Can like the SEALs here:

He means that MK18s did not use Griffin Cans, they used KAC NT4's. Not sure what current MK18's are being issued with though.

I'm hoping to be able to head down to RA and pick mine up while on my dinner break at work tonight. If not, it'll have to wait until next week.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but i'm far too lazy to dig through the entire thread: which uppers are a good match for this in terms of fit and anodizing match? Obviously the RA Ultra Match, but any others you guys have found to look good? I've got a CMT Tactical billet upper (from way back when they were first introduced), and a RA Gen 2 forged upper in the safe. I'm thinking the forged upper would look pretty good on the Battle Kitty.

I like the way a forged upper looks on a Rainier UltraMatch 3 lower, but all of the CMT uppers are also great matches.

I've noticed slight variations in CMT uppers as far as anodizing goes. If you're a perfectionist, you might have to take uppers you already have and see how close it matches to the lower.

Well crap... I read a review that said it was designed with the Norgon in mind, so I ordered it up. Never gave a thought to it being redundant. I should have not went shopping after reading an article half-asleep! I'll chalk it up to my first Ambi lower and mis-placed OCD. :)

I was planning on filing a Form 1 and having it Cerakoted, but the engraving of the kitty isn't deep enough for coating. I assembled the lower yesterday, just have to torque and stake the castle nut when I get a second. Probably just going to use it to host my 16" 300 BLK upper for now and build a 14.5" something-or-other with a pinned suppressor QD when I can finagle another barrel and rail. I'll get some pics up in the next day or two.

You should still see the kitty fine. When applied properly you shouldn't have it anywhere near thick enough to hide the kitty.

Remember Cerakote is applied at .001” which is very thin, most areas do not require masking, however, if you are unsure, contact NIC for assistance.

It's a standard forged upper from Andro Corp,14.5" M4 barrel with an SLR Synergy comp. Magpul UBR stock, MBUS pro offsets, Raptor ch, mil-spec bcg and trigger. Plenty left to upgrade.

I'm gonna move the light over to the left side when I get a longer rail, it funks up things with the offset sights over there. At least on the left side, I don't have barrel shadow.

A few local gun shops around here do cerakote work. Harsh Firearms here in Norman did the work on the Thin Blue Line SBR and I was happy with it. Also gonna have a buddy go through "cerakote school" at some point but I might not wait for that.

I should have bought two right off the bat. Seemed like they were going quick at first and I didn't want to be greedy. Did the paper work on mine yesterday. They are very nice lowers. Such a flawless finish it might remain black. I honestly didn't expect the Mega Maten M-LOK to look so much better than the keyMod but it does.

So... question for those in the know. After putting my evil kitty together, I noticed the backstrap on my MIAD Tupe 1.1 grip was sticking down (Yes, it jumped the locking tab) and the core would not engage it's lock tab. So, who's mistake is this, given the parts are mil-spec? The ear is the same thickness, but it seems the beavertail on the MIAD is hitting the bottom of the receiver. WHen the grip is tightened, it pushes the backstrap down and bulges the grip, allowing the core to fall free from the grip. Sucks, but not the end of the world. I am kinda pissed that expensive part number one won't work with really expensive part number two! :\

Could somebody give this a try and see if it happens for them, or is it the price of having SN: 666?

I had the same thing happen with a MIAD on my BCM lower, about 6 years ago. The MIAD fit my Bushmaster lower (circa 1995) without a problem.

Anyway, just take a piece of sand paper and remove some polymer from the inside of the backstrap where it's hitting the lower receiver. Easy peezy Japa-neezy.

I'm not sure you know what "milspec" means. The Billet Lower is not milspec.

I don't think it's common knowledge as I just learned of this myself, but the MIAD 1.1 is only made for forged milspec lowers. Will not fit on Billets very well with the backstrap you're using. I had the same issue on a Mega GTR-3H.

Hmmm. Worked without incident on a New Frontier lower. Mil-spec for that ear is .681. Thickness is what I was referring to, not radius of that whatchamacallit thingy.

That dimension I quoted is for a forged lower, though I can't imagine a manufacturer not claiming "MIL-SPEC-ISH" ;)

I like grips with the reduced angle, but that's about all i like on most of the ones i've tried. The grips are either too small for my large hands, or the back strap allows the web of my hand to get too high on the receiver. Umbrella's Grip 23 gets it just about right, but is too slippery in stock form. I need to learn how to stipple i guess. At any rate, the MIAD easily my favorite grip. With the large back strap, the grip is large enough and gets the web of my hand lower than most other grips. Super comfy.

I've actually had to use the sandpaper method to remove A LOT of material from a Magpul MOE grip that wouldn't play nice with a Mega billet lower. I wound up just using my Dremel and a sanding drum i had to take so much off. Worked like a charm, but had to be careful not to take too much off.

They're good for the thumbless wonders who always end up breaking the ears off their lowers when they're trying to install trigger guards. Other than that, no damn idea why anyone would buy one of the horrible things.

The grip ergos just look horrible on the one without the built-in trigger guard. Looks like it twists your hand into an un-natural position.

Have you tried a BCM mod 3 grip? It's wider with a reduced angle.

I like the Mod 3, it's pretty close to just right but still wish the back strap was a bit bigger. The last BCM lower i bought had one installed and it felt good enough that i left it. I tried the Mod 2 (the modular one) and liked it a lot. Every BCM grip i've owned has needed a little time with some sandpaper to make edge where the grip meets the trigger guard a bit less pronounced so it doesn't dig in to my finger. That transition is a lot more fluid on the Magpul grips

FYI: on the MIAD grip fit Saga, I hogged out all the extra, un-necessary material with my foredom tool and a small sanding drum bit. It allowed the grip to line-up properly when tightened down, but the core cap was still popping loose! Just seconds before hooking it into the trash can, I tried a different core (Bolt and firing pin) and lo and behold; it snapped into place with a click! I tried the other one again, nothing. I removed the bottle from the core cap and... CLICK! Through all of this ordeal, I used the stock grip bolt supplied with the MIAD, a star washer and the bottle is filled with synthetic gun oil.Never would have thought a little plastic bottle would create a fitment issue from one billet lower to the next, but I now see it happens...

If you're going to use a Mega Wedge Lock, so far it works well with... surprisingly a Mega Upper or Forged Upper. [:D]

But the Wedge lock will work with a lot of various uppers as it doesn't have anti-rotational tabs, so no worries on having to grind them off. The matte finish on them matches well with a lot of uppers.

You could always place an order for one and use the pay by check/cash option since you're local. Maybe the guys at RA can work something out for you. I mean, those lowers ought to go to WEVO members who'll appreciate them. At the very least you could see how long they'd keep your order open while you scrape together some cash.

It'd be pretty sweet if Rainier did a layaway program. Stretch it over several months for a flat percentage/handling charge. No penalty for early payoff, however if you have to default, the fee is retained and the rest refunded. Some places add 20 points to the withdrawal penalty to cover restocking/lost inventory costs. It could be a good thing, and shield the merchant as well. Good for everybody! Now, wrap me up another one of those kittys, and bill my first of three payments! :D

I waffled, but the design grew on me. Atually, I hopped on number 1 before the design was chosen. Initially the kitty left me cold, but I realized I might have left somebody holding extras. In the meantime, it's grown on me.

Hey, it's no skull dripping the blood of my enemies, but if I can't be a badass with a kitten on my magwell, I'm no the badass I think I am to begin with (speaking subjectively, of course). :)

I'm finally at a point in my life where I prefer quality over quantity. The scope is a Nikon Monarch 6x24x50 fine crosshair with dot that I got with the first bolt action .223 I purchased after turning 18. ...It wasn't cheap either.

I'm not going to lie, I'm kinda in love with it. Since I sold my other AR I decided to pull off the 6x24x50 optic to make it useful in HD if need be. I think Eventually I may put at 1-6x optic on it but will my other ongoing projects that may be awhile.

Well, I left my scale in another state so I'm not sure. But it's not light. The barrel is a heavy profile SS Ultramatch so that's plenty of weight on the front, but the UBR helps make the whole rig very balanced.

Probably a logistical issue on this though.

We'd have to get solid commitments, and then ship all of the lowers to get engraved, then get them back before shipping to individual FFL's.
