I set a personal best today. I am still super stoked. I went shooting today and this time I had a couple of people come with me. We had plenty of guns of all different types, but I was drawn to a friend's .308.

We started shooting with it, and we got it pretty dialed in... then I started going for it. I set a new personal best... I was getting rounds on target a 1000 yards. That is hands down the farthest I've ever shot before. It took about 20+ rounds to find the groove, but once I got on it I was having a ball.

Anyway needless to say I am still pretty happy. I am still thinking that I need a much bigger gun [:D]

I think I will take a .300 WM next time.

Here is a pic of some of the groups I was getting @ 1000 yards.

Very cool, my friends are 1000 yard freaks. They dump more time and money into their gear than I ever could, but they put up some amazing groups.

Awesome work! K+ yardage is unimaginable to me! I derive great satisfaction from 300 or less and these guys that can do all that math in their heads are beyond my ability to comprehend. I guess I'm just full-blooded knuckledragger in that respect, and I'm okay with that. :)

Give a .338 Lapua Mag a try one time. I zero at 500 yards and have shot out to around 1700 yards. Seems like forever until you hear the gong.

Thanks everyone! I really had a great time!!! The downside is that I now want a new batch of a bunch of really expensive stuff! LOL

I don't know the 'effective' range of a .308 but I am thinking we were kind of stretching it out there. I had to dial up 42 MOA... so pretty much we were stretching our equipment pretty thin.

Based on my dope chart the rounds had over 36 feet of drop before they made impact. That's pretty crazy when you think about it. It's like little artillery shells being lobbed in there.

I would love to try a .338 Lapua. I just need to find someone who has one [:D] I want to test out stuff and see if I can make it work even farther. I would be bouncing off the walls if I could hit that 1800 yard plate.

I definitely learned a whole lot through that session that's for sure. Now though I think I'm hooked. [BD]

Easy fix is to just build one... [BD]

My list of wants is already far too long [:D] At least until my bank account can catch up...

Honestly though I think it would be interesting to make a list of true 1000++ yard guns... I wonder what are all the calibers that can do say a 1 mile shot...

Some of The 6mm-6.5 variants do very well also..Not to sidetrack to far..

Looks like fun though..

I had a 6.5 Grendel that was able to hit 1000

I've heard good things about 6.5 Creedmoor.

You're not side tracking anything! Keep it coming. [:D]

I have heard very good things about 6.5's as well. I might have access to a 300WM so I am going to try that to see if I can go beyond 1000yards. We just have to round everything up and go again. [:D]

I think the 6.5's would be really interesting considering they are pretty light bullet all things considered. Honestly I would really like to shoot those calibers. I am kind of curious how much they blow around out there down range.

Good find!!! Going to a long range class like that would be awesome.

I think I could handle that.

The guy that runs the place did this:

"Sarver Shoots 1.403" Group at 1000 Yards"
