Yeah, this thing it built like a tank. The reticle is excellent, and it is very bright if needed. In the brightest sunlight seeing the reticle is no problem. While I’m not going to toss it around a rocky gun range, I think the 515 models are as tough and durable as Aimpoint. I don’t say that lightly. I 8 Aimpoints that I love, trust with my life. The only thing I wonder about is water, if it’s sealed as well as Aimpoint.

I'm impressed with the BRN-180 build and quality. PWS did a good job of engineering the Piston recoil system, and all of the parts seen to be good quality.

The only downside to these lowers with picatinny buttstock attachments is that there isn't a great selection yet, and some of the better ones are months out for backorder.

I bought the Dan Haga adapter for an ACR stock, but as he warns on his website, the attachment point is not really long enough. It doesn't look right. So the ACR stock is going on my B&T APC45 once I get there paperwork done and get the tax stamp back.

I really wish that DoubleStar/ACE, Ltd. would come up with a picatinny adapter for their AK folding mechanism. Then I could attach an SLR billet AK stock.

Ok, so it's not here yet, but it's on its way. I couldn't wait to post a picture. I've been holding off building my Fortis License AR because I'm being very picky about it. I want to I use as many Fortis parts as possible. Too complicate things, when they started anodizing things blue, I decided I wanted it to be a Blue Line gun. Those blue parts sold out in just days.! I've been slowly gathering therm, searching sites and watching used part sites. I finally reached out to Paul Hwang to see if they had any returns, blend, whatever. That's something that I would be interested in. Obviously not for everyone, but once in a while I like to build a themed AR. I guess that's one of my creative outlets. [emoji2371]

The real deal came in today! I freakin' love it. The blue billet dust cover was literally the very last one they had on site. Hard to see in the package, but the Radian Talon SS is a matching blue. All I'm waiting on now is the next round of Torque grips to come back from Ano, and I'll have all the blue I need to complete this build.

Jeff Cross asked me awhile back if I wanted a pistol or rifle, and I didn't know what he was cooking up. He asked me to send him a Brace so it would be coated with the rest of whatever he was doing. I sent him a Maxim Defense brace, and a few months later, he had this MANDA15 set coated by BDL. Now I just have to finish it. Not sure how yet, but it's pretty slick looking, considering most of you guys know I'm not a big cerakote guy, especially with the crazy patterns.

Well 3 weeks go by, no cards, email them and some mixup somewhere blah blah..sending you a set expedited.. well they showed up as the other set did also..lol.. So maybe I do need to form 1 a lower and a diy can..[pop]

Gonna figure this efile out soon..might have a question or 2 along the way..

With your mechanical aptitude, you should definitely do a DIY can. I'd love to see what your skills can do with a DIY project.

One thing I like at OpticsPlanet is their OpMod products. Ok, it's basically just stuff that's been coated FDE, or something similar. Anyway, while I had to wait several months for these DD fixed sights for my BRN-180, the brown color is a nice touch that will be fairly unique.

Mustang - I also just got those in FDE on my BRN-180, covering the 3 mlok slots that are 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. So far, I like them. I've used Rail Scales and like them fine. But wanted something skinnier for this rail. I agree that they are not at all as aggressive as RS, but I've also had to lightly sand some G10 RS because they were tearing skin and cloth. These do offer a little insulation. Once I get my light mounted, see how everything looks, I might get Slate Grips for the open slots.

Got a BCM Kino upper with a 9in KMR. Really just wanted to barrel but found one used for a decent price. Oops, forgot to respond to this. No, I'm not on WA Guns. Sorry I missed that as I would have been happy to throw another jug of TAC on the order. I'll ping you next time, but with this order I'll probably be set for a while, unless maybe they get Varget back in stock.

Speaking of Varget, I've never used N140 but I understand it's a great alternative to Varget, which I love for heavy bullets in 308 and 223. Some say it's even better than Varget so I'm looking forward to trying it out. It's a bit more expensive, though.

Thanks, gents. I'd never heard of Steel City Arsenal until I stumbled upon them via a youtube video or maybe I was trying to find anyone with quality Glock parts kits in stock. Actually I think it was a comment in a YT video about their Glock trigger being a really good value. These guys seem to have a good rep, but maybe are relatively unknown. I got my order very quickly and am very impressed with the quality. And $329 for a slide like this with RMR cut is a pretty good price, IMO. I'll try to get this thing built up soon as I think I have all the parts for a fresh build now. I guess this is what happens when you can't really justify adding any more ARs.

I think a big part of the appeal of the BO 1.7 mount depends on your anthropemetrics. The very little time I had using it, I liked it much better than a 1.5, but also found it much easier to use in the prone. But I have a long neck/body, so it works for me. I think I said all this before.

Vortex has shipped my Razor back to me and it should be here Tuesday, so hopefully soon I can get the BO back in action and get some more experience with it.

Feels bombproof, rave reviews, modular for offset dots which I’ve been looking hard into. Just the Scalarworks felt more immediately natural. Still undecided.

I like both, but that 1/4” is noticeable. The taller badger is the same as most lower 1/3 mounts.

Like Aragon said, you can use your RDS setup as a guide. If you're an absolute guy, go with 1.5-ish. If you're running a laser/NODs, go 1.9 (or higher). I stepped into the 1.9" arena, not because I was running a PEQ, but because it was the only option at the time and I liked the raised eye-line, but it comes at a cost. The lower 1/3 seems to be the best compromise for me (assuming we're not talking about a dedicated precision rig).

New build. This is the second handguard, though. I did a build for a buddy recently. He had picked out some really nice parts, but he picked up a gaudy Chinese handguard off some unheard-of website. After looking at other options, he mentioned that he really liked this rail that I had out on my bench. Got him all set up, he has a nice rifle that also looks great now. After waiting a few months, I was able to replace my handguard. All that's left is to install the barrel and handguard.

I just switched over 3 rifles to the Malkoff E1 Hyper Throw/Scout M300 Head with the SR07 switch and cap and Ariska 300 body. I'm digging it!

You are right, it does look similar. The MFT stock is designed to be modular - you can swap out the shoulder "pad" for different styles/types. But I've not seen any of those options come out yet.

At this point, I think the Ripstock is more functional and useful than this MFT stock. A friend has a Form 1 Banshee 300 BO with the Ripstock. That thing is a blast to shoot.

I've always liked their Minimalist stocks, which is why I bought this one. My experience has not been great. I tried to put it on an AR with an ALG tube. No go. I was really pissed about it, and they don't give great instructions. Butt I looked around, found some info, came back at it. Still no-go! [emoji35] it's like just a mm or two too tight. I haven't tried it again since then. I am planning to work on a couple builds this coming week, and I'll take another shot with a different brand of buffer tube.

Special order 300 Banshee with change to 10” barrel, handguard and flash hider. The gun looks great in drab green. Pmags lock in tightly while commie metal rattles a little, but no binding like some have reported on early models. The RipBrace is a good feature if you are the only user. But my apeman pal will want full extension so I won’t use the position lock.

Disappointing customer service though. Stated 20 week lead time turned out to be 40+ weeks. Emails beginning about 30 weeks ignored.Three weeks ago get an email to say build in progress and will notify when shipped. No notice received. Yesterday the gun store called to say ready for pickup. I had suggested a spare bolt would help make me a happy customer, but no bling in box. Not even a user manual or warranty info.

I agree, completely unenforceable, and even if it was, we are currently overlooking actual felony crimes, due to the lack of staffing. This wouldn't even make it on the radar.

As long as you understand that Holosun isn't as good, I can live with that. I'd argue that it's 95% of what the Trijicon is for a lot less money. I totally get where you're coming from though. They've come a long way since their first generation stuff, which was crap. Admittedly I was in the same boat, but after watching Aaron Cowan's video on the Holosun, I gave it another look.

I get that, but Poopypants and Faucci give them enough of our hard-earned money. They've killed the Mom-n-Pop industry and are largely responsible for our economy being in the shitter, starting with car prices and medications and fueling the supply chain crisis. All we got was a nasty viral illness (Edit to add FENTANYL). I understand that China is well represented in the daily life of the average American, but if enough of us cancelled that shit, things would change quickly. There are plenty of other places on the Asian continent that do a better job of producing those daily life articles and they do it with a much higher regard for the rest of the world.

Everything that's good and awesome is copied (ie: stolen), and reproduced cheaper, with shitty base components and no QC, but people are brainwashed into thinking it's "JuSt aS gOOd!!" While supporting IP theft*. I understand. I get that people want things, and buying cheap is a central flaw of the I want it now generation. You said yourself you were "Saving" for a new vehicle. If more people learned from the first time some Chinesium POS garbage broke, and adopted the save for quality trait, those crooks would be forced to step-up, or step-out of the industries they're dominating with shit.

BOT: While not a ghastly rip-off of the consumer, Holosun is certainly an outlier among a sea of ripped-off technology.

Right now, there is no getting away from China. Your house is full of Chinesium. I've tried over the years to consciously eliminate as much Chinese made crap as possible, but as the pandemic has shown, a lot of products just aren't made here anymore. I remember talking to Sheri Johnson while EraThr3 was starting and just finding someone in the US to make playing cards for them was impossible. I think that really hamstrung them as far as bringing products to market but couldn't because they refused to compromise their principles.

Anyhow, I don't have any evidence that Holosun has stolen any IP, not saying you're accusing them, but the Chinese can manufacture things of high quality. ie Multitasker. I'm fine with picking an choosing certain items made in China.

In the end the pandemic is ending Globalization and Chinese labor isn't as cheap as it used to be. I think this will be a self correcting problem soon.
