I was processing a couple hundred pieces of brass this weekend, having a grand old time depriming prior to cleaning. I'm in my batch of crimped 5.56, and the deccapper pops up in the collet. Reset, put it aside, start again, and another, and another... Sure enough, a whole batch of Berdan primed brass. it least I didn't break a pin.

What type of brass? Headstamp, etc?

Sorry, could have been me. I was shooting some recently and was thinking (someone is gonna be mad at me picking this up).

5.56 no cross stamp. It just has 89 at the top, 14 at the bottom, and a triple crimp.

Do you want them back?

What's your technique for removing the crimp?

I have a couple of things I've done that worked for me.

I've been using an RCBS swage die. Considering the Hornady LNL AP set up in the future.

RCBS Case Prep station with crimp remover (both large and small bits). Works like a charm. After I remove the crimp, I run the brass through the pocket uniforming tool. They come out looking like fresh brass from the factory.

I'm just going to throw them on the ground next time at the range. You know, pay it forward.
