View Full Version : Stick will the MBUS fit on this?

Stickman, how much room does the front MBUS take up? I think it takes up four spaces in a rail. I just purchased the same exact upper as this one with MOE handguards and want to mount the MBUS. I think it will work if I keep it in the up position.

You can't mount the MBUS on a gas block, the temperatures are too much for the polymer to handle, especially with heavy volumes of fire.

On a side note, that gas block is lower than the rail, so you would need a taller model either way.

Is the MBUS available now? I have not seen any for sale.

That, or any other of the gas block sight mounts.

My own personal way around it would be ripping that gas block off, and throwing a rail over the top of it, then use the MBUS. The problem with that is that it would certainly cost more money.

Not yet, but very very soon.

Kind of defeats the purpose of buying the MBUS ;).

Not really, still have a very affordable rear sight, and the lower gas block rail dictates one of the above front flip-ups anyway. I don't see that as a losing situation.

My point was that ripping off the gas block and putting on a low profile gas block with an extended forearm in order to fit the MBUS, as Stick suggested, is a lot more expensive than simply using different gas block mounted BUIS. I think we're all on the same page :).

will this YHM work? I'm wondering if it will be high enough to work with a rear MBUS.

also I need to mount my front BUIS on the gas block because I'm using MOE hanguards.

If that is the gasblock model, it will work.

I just mounted a set of MBUS on my S&W M&P (flattop rec. + flattop gas block) and I had to trim up my Magpul XT rail covers over my DD Omega 7 rail to allow for the front MBUS to lay flat--still dead sexy sights. Still waiting for a MBUS set in foliage green too. I'll post pics later.
