View Full Version : BCM Gunfighter Trigger Guard

I have to admit I was surprised by how much BCM impressed me with $7 worth of plastic. I wanted to swap my pistol grip out for a BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 which has the duckbill molded in and knew that my Magpul MOE polymer trigger guard was too thick (as it's designed to not require the duckbill). So, I picked up the BCM Gunfighter trigger guard to go with my grip. Not only does it work with the Mod 3 grip as advertised, but I prefer the thinner but wider profile. As a bonus, it retails for $2 less than the MOE. My only complaint was that the roll pin was too big so I had to use a spare. The BCM will be my go-to trigger guard from now on.

How do you like the stock and grip?

I love the grip. I have GF grips on two other builds (one Mod 0 and one Mod 3) and am moving all my ARs over the GF Mod 3 (I'll keep the Mod 0, as it's on a LW build for the ladies of the house). I just got the stock yesterday so time will tell. I put it on to replace an MOE fixed rifle stock. I initially thought that for a hunting and SPR-ish build I'd prefer a fixed stock with a traditional pistol grip, but realized there is really no upside to the fixed stock and I missed the adjustable LOP. My first choice of carbine stock so far has been the Crane SOPMOD (B5 Bravo), but I've been really impressed with every single BCM component I've put my hands on. I thought the Gunfighter stock was ugly at first but besides it growing on me aesthetically, I realized that BCM has a great track record of really thinking through the design requirements and is more focused on function over form. So, I'll give it a go and see if I like it over the SOPMOD. Funny enough, I got the stock off of EE on the 68Forums from a guy who is swapping all of his builds over to fixed rifle stocks, so we all have our preferences.

Here is a "Before" shot of the lower receiver group (built on a Mega Gator):

And here is the after:

I also swapped out the Geissele Super TRICON for the SD-E, thanks to the PA Black Friday sale. The lower had primarily been used to host my 6.8 upper (built on the WEVO T&E Aero Precision M4E1 (http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?8038-T-amp-E-Review-Aero-Precision-M4E1-Enhanced-Upper-Receiver-and-12-quot-M-LOK-Enhanced-Handguard&highlight=)) for hunting so I have some time in the field with it:

But now I'm finishing up my SPR-ish upper built around an 18" WOA SPR barrel so I wanted the SD-E trigger for this lower and moved my TRICON to my field/HD lower. For my SPR, I'm semi-cloning the BCM Recce 18" precision.

Been thinking about getting a Mod 1 since I have smaller hands. The stock may be lighter than I want for balance, I'm still a fan of CTR's.

Frankly, I didn't even notice the Mod 3 is slightly thicker than that Mod 0/1 until someone here pointed out an error in one of my posts and took the calipers to them. The Mod 3 will save you about $8 over the Mod 1 and pretty much give you the same thing unless you really need the removable duckbill. I used the Mod 0 on the LW build for the women/youth of the family as the lack of the beaver tail backstrap does considerably shorten the "reach" (distance from backstrap to trigger). It's not as tiny as the Magpul K grip, but it's much shorter than I prefer for my large caveman hands, but it works.

All the BCM GF grips have pretty much the same grip angle as the UWRC Grip 23 but I find the GF to be much better contoured and textured. I decided to swap out and sell my Grip 23 after about 5 minutes with a GF.
