Time to start planning next years project! Got a few directions I'm thinking on heading next year and AR10 may be one of them. Of course it cant be simple like a factory LR308 or a .308 at all in fact, it will most likely be a new wildcat and it will be a monster if everything works out. Now that being said due to the fact that I cant get a GenII set of receivers I will most likely go with ARP's NexGen upper receiver and BCG so I'll have to use a DPMS LR308 patterned lower. Now I do have some I've been looking at and some I would like to have but I would like to get some opinions on any experience you guys have on current lowers available. I've been looking at the Aero M5 and would probly be the most sensible choice, I'm also a big fan of the Rainier Arms ambi lower but unfortunately it's only sold as a set, same thing with the CMT, which I'm sure would be a fine one as well. So other than that does anyone have a favorite, or know of any that may be lighter than the others?

Oh yea the SI Defense is top shelf, I see rumors of it being very light as well. I came across one I've never heard of today that looked really good, Cason I think is the company, out of Cali. Maybe spelled Casen, I'll have to look. Swept magwell kinda like Area53.

Interesting lower there, and I hadn't even considered an 80%. I'll have to think on this one.

1. Mega MATEN
2. Aero M5
3. Falkor Defense
4. Rainier Arms
5. CMT

The CMT or mega sets are on my short list

The MATEN is a fantastic lower (I have one), but it's not a DPMS-style lower, per the OP's original plan.

If I were going to do a set it would be hard to choose between the Mega and the Rainier. Slight edge going to the Maten because I think it may be lighter.

I kinda wish someone would just go ahead and clone the genII DPMS. But do it right this time and make it to accept ar15 handguards. I know it can be done since ARP's upper will indeed accept them.
