In January 2015 my local gun shop/manufacturer released a new Billet lower receiver with a Billet up that was soon to follow. To make a long story short, the machine shop that they contracted with went through a move and the production of the upper was delayed for several months. I committed myself to waiting for the matched upper to build my rifle and I am glad I did.

I don't have any other 18" rifles in my safe (in fact I only have 3 different 14.5" pinned rifles) so I wanted to build something different. My goal was to build a more of a precision rifle tor 3 gun style rifle. I don't compete, however, I wanted to build something along these lines that I could really use to practice precision shooting and work on increasing my accuracy limits. This is what I ended up building...

Special Thanks to Lanco Tactical in Elizabethtown, PA.

This rifle started with a Lanco Tactical Billet Lower and Upper set which are 7075 aluminum alloy with anodized finish.

Upper:
- Lanco Tactical Stripped upper (Billet)
- Faxon 18" govt profile rifle gas 1:8 twist barrel (melonite finish) with pinned low profile gas block
- BCM KMR Alfa 15" handguard
- PWS FSC Compensator
- AIM Surplus Melonite BCG
- BCM Large latch Charging Handle

Lower:
- Lanco Tactical Stripped Lower (Billet)
- Rifle Buffer tube, spring, and buffer
- Lancer Carbon Fiber rifle stock
- Standard LPK with Strike Industries enhanced takedown pins
- Ruger 2 stage AR-15 trigger (on order, not yet installed)
- Odin Works extended mag release

Need:
- Glass!!!!

So the Billet Uppers were finally delivered yesterday so I was able to pick it up today. Bud at Lanco Tactical assembled and upper and did a 20 round test fired while I waited.

I can't say that the Lanco Tactical Billet Receiver Sets bring anything new to the table as far as receivers are concerned, however, the machining and anodizing is top notch. They also offer a tensioning screw, ability to use a short throw selector, compatibility with many BAD devices, notches to allow mounting tabs for various rails. They are also 7075 aluminum alloy as that seems to matter to many folks.

So here are some pictures of the last year of my life!

I'm diggin' those gold takedown pins.

I am fond of them as well. Wouldn't put them on a fighting rifle but they go just fine with a bench shooter!

Nicely done Sir ! Like some others, I am a fan of just a little "bling" with the bang - I like the takedown/pivot pins.

I was thinking of also doing the Strike Industries gold Forward assist. Yeah or nay?
