Looks like the Raptor started an ambi CH revolution.

I like the charging handle (from what I can see). The potential price scares me a bit. Raptors are expensive enough.

It's definitely got a touch of class. Maybe I can get lucky and win one like I did with the Raptor.

First glance, it looks nice, but the levers look too short.

Yeah I'm digging that charging handle...

They look a little smaller than the raptor but they definitely have more tactile surface area per lever than a standard charging handle. I could see use in having an Ambi CH that is a little sleeker.

Yet another way for Bill Geissele to remove funds from my bank account. The man is a genius.

Scalarworks has the LW T1/T2 mount arena cornered, as far as I'm concerned.

In case you needed an optic mount on your .50

You got some on order don't you?

Battle Cock

Dang. Three mounting clamps, and scope rings that tighten all the way down with no gaps between the caps and the main mount. I've never gotten into heavy weapons but I can see how those would be great features for withstanding recoil.

You laugh, but that's almost a thing. This or an Aimpoint was pretty common to see on my deployments:

They have a ACOG with a 50 BMG reticle so I see a need for mounting choices. LOL

If I run across somebody kicking doors with that, I'm making damn sure his beers are paid for!

Sounds like a plan.

To be fair, no door-kickin'. Although this guy is running what looks to be a 553 (maybe?) instead of a XPS (and shot about two years later...sorry for the VVS, but my crewman didn't know any better):

If you're already not broke from all the sales and new products lately, you're doing it wrong. [BD]

Didn't Geissele do a branded raptor there for awhile? I guess they got tired of paying royalties to AXTS

Unless I'm missing something, this design doesn't do anything for me over a standard raptor (which I love and have several).

Im much more interested in the Griffin Snach

The charging handle market is pretty saturated.

With that said, the raptor CH changed the game, the RA Avalanche blinged the game out with 20" rims.

Unless a CH does something super non-standard it is just a regular charging handle at this point.

Yeah, but this CH definitely gets some style points. I'm fine with having more options for my builds!

Like anything Geissele builds, I'm sure this will be a tank. Looks like it will also do well to mitigate some gasses coming back at the shooter for suppressed guns. Looking forward to my sample. [:D]

voodoo_man
7 January 2016, 16:07
I mean, yeah, "style points" is good.

I might buy one just to add to a build I'll be using a geissele rail on, just you know, to match.

But otherwise, its the same as an OEM one...

My first charging handle was a raptor... it was great. Nothing wrong with it in any way. I sold it though to a forum member here.

That said the SNACH is on another level if you ask me. It's definitely robust and a pleasure to use. It's more robust IMO than the Raptor.

As far as effectiveness of keeping gas out of your face... I don't really have anything to test it against anymore but it seems like it works fine.

I've been doing some homework on this stuff and I think it depends largely on the gun you put it on and the type of ammo used. The back pressure and as the griffin guys say 'popping the cork' ie the bullet leaving the muzzle on an 18" gun is at a far different level than the pressure of the bullet leaving a 10.5" or other shorter barrel.

http://sadefensejournal.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/barrel5.jpg

A 20" barrel has half the PSI of a 10.5" barrel as well as twice the internal volume and twice the distance...so all that will come into play with how 'effective' the SNACH will be at diverting gasses.

I know on my 16" gun I haven't even had a whisper of gas hitting me in the face. I think it's a combination of the ammo, the can, the barrel length and possibly other stuff....

But the SNACH is definitely a good charging handle....

After talking my buddy at Geissele, I don't think this is one of those earth shattering "game changing" products. Just another choice in the market. I doubt anyone will be swapping their existing charging handles with this. Hard to do at $90 a pop.

$90?

Good lord dats a lot of money.

Battle Cock
7 January 2016, 23:19
Wasn't $90 about the price point where raptors were introduced?

Edit: I'm single and work too much so I don't spend my money on much other than food and gun parts. I'm bound to inevitably grab one of these as long as they stay under $100. Though I'll probably wait awhile.
