Must be the transplants putting restrictions on the Dallas area ranges. The only regulation a Texas rifle range should consider is asking patrons to please point their BMG'S South, or East/Northeast. :)

I guess Texas wants to follow Kentucky's lead ;)

While I am all for the objectives, I oppose a national Comstitutional Convention at this time for a couple of reasons:

1. The main current problem is the ignoring of amendments already in force. The 10th is very clear on what the feds may not do, yet much if not most of the budget goes for programs not allowed for in the charter. We have elected too many outlaws and their spinless abetters for me to want them overseeing a sea change in our most important founding document.

2. The people are not angry enough yet with the status quo. The Presidential red/blue split in recent elections has been too close to 50-50. Ratification of CC amendments would be a long process and we could be in the throes of another starry-eyed orgasm for "hope and change" ala 2008. Without clear, overwhelming red support, we might easily end up worse off with socialism and tyranny enshrined permanently.

^^^ Good assessment.

IMHO, there won't be a Constitutional Convention regarding gun rights in the foreseeable future. NIce effort, and I applaud the sentiment, but neither Kentucky nor Texas are going to get anywhere in their respective efforts.

I'd suggest checking out the proposal: Restoring_The_Rule_Of_Law_01082016.pdf (http://gov.texas.gov/files/press-office/Restoring_The_Rule_Of_Law_01082016.pdf)

It's actually a pretty good read. I've only gotten through about page 15 (of 92), but the document is focused more on the executive branch overstepping its power and having an impotent congress. If you do a search through the document, the term "gun" only shows up twice.

I would have to vote with Uffdaphil on this. If, and that is an astronomically big if, the delegates to such a convention were of the same shared cultural world view as the Founders I would have less trepidation.

Any such convention opens the lock, and once in that room, anything goes. Any changes can be made. The last time we had one, it was to improve upon certain (subjective) deficiencies in the then current governing construct, The Articles of Confederation. When that convention was over, The Articles of Confederation as a ratified covenant was dead and buried, and an entire new covenant was created, The Constitution.

Imagine unlocking that system and letting a parliament of whores have at it. No thank you.
