Winter has set in, and boredom along with it. I had quite a few parts on hand, so the inevitable ordering of parts began. I know this probably sounds (and looks) crazy, but I just have to try it. I also wanted to mess around with spray painting. I've done Duracoat, but this time I'm slumming it with Krylon. The goal? A pistol with glass for reaching out more than the average pistol. I've done a few Appleseeds, and my goal is to be able to reach out up to 500yards on IPSC steel with only a sling. Here's the parts list:

PSA Forged Lower Receiver
CMMG? LPK
Magpul MOE Grip
Magpul Trigger Guard
Geissele G2S Trigger Group
Carbine Buffer and Spring
KAK Extended Pistol Tube
Exile Machine Foam Cover

BCM Blem Upper Receiver
BCM Upper Parts Group
Aero Precision CMV Nitride 10.5" Barrel
KAK Slimline Flash Can
AIM Surplus Evolution 3.0 NiB BCG
BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 Charging Handle
Hera Arms IRS Keymod 12" Handguard
Joe Bob Nitride Low Profile Gas Block
Joe Bob Stainless Carbine Gas Tube
AR-Stoner 30mm Scope Mount
Bushnell FFP 1-4x PCL Scope

I'm still waiting on the barrel and glass to show up. I'll need a sling mount for the front yet as well for shooting in prone with a USGI sling.

First mock assembly after paint. This is Krylon Khaki by the way. I painted this while the temps was about 25° by preheating the parts with a blow dryer in high, spraying, then flashing each coat with the blow dryer again.

And here's how it's sitting now. Aero makes some good stuff for a good price, but they are currently dragging their feet on shipping out the barrel.

First off --- Very Nice !

Now, first picture's Krylon looks green, numbers 2 and 3 actually look Khaki. Is it a repaint for 2 and 3, or just lighting on the first photo?

I like both - alot - but kinda diggin' the green look more. Have you considered Krylon for the trigger guard, or will the paint thickness impede installation?

Thank you! It's the lighting messing with the mix. I agree, the first photo color looks the best. Reality is closer to the second two. I considered it for the trigger guard, but let it for contrast. I can always spray it later.

Glass is in hand. Still waiting on Aero for the barrel. They said "It should ship soon..."

Decided to play around with the finish a bit more. Here's step two, and I'm waiting on stencils to arrive. I may be spraying Aircraft Remover before long if this doesn't work out, but I guess that's the beauty of Krylon.

Hmmm, not sure about the update. I think I like the cleaner look over the multi-color on this one - but just my thoughts.

The stencils will probably bring it all together. You know how they say it gets worse before it gets better lol

Yeah, I'm not happy with the look now, but it's a means to and end. Fingers crossed.

Got the stencils in, applied, sprayed again and assembled. Considering it's my first attempt, I'm fairly happy with the results.

I like this look!! Effective camo avoids sharp lines and blends colors. But anything is better than plain black. I know it's too late and all but I think it looks good like this.

I biased though, I have a lot of painted rifles

Well, now ya tell me! Lol That look is very easy to achieve. Wish I could find a local source for Aervoe though. I think it would hold up better long term.

Thank you! I think much better results could be had with an airbrush and Duracoat, but it'll work.
