The trend in the silencer market is to have one silencer that can work on everything. This makes great sense from a financial stand point as well as wait times. Until recently the most you could hope for was an endcap change.
Enter the Griffin Armament Optimus (http://ss1.us/a/3R0knhIg) and everything changed. The Optimus has the ability to work on 300 Win Mag down to 17HMR and 9mm handgun. In addition it comes apart for cleaning so you can use it on 22LR or cast lead ammo. Adjustable lengths, endcaps and mounting systems are just some of the features.

One might expect that because of the size of a "rifle" silencer that it wouldn't work on a pistol. Griffin solved this problem by making the diameter smaller so that it will work with suppressor height sights. Additionally the sound performance of the Optimus is better that what you would expect from a silencer that can work on 95% of the commercially viable calibers.

I really want one of these. I sent off my paper work for a Recce 5 and a Checkmate literally the week before this was announced.
