I think that Maine Police Chief can keep his commie opinions to himself:

"In Augusta, Maine, police chief Robert Gregoire said silencer-equipped gunshots may sound further away than a typical gunshot, making it hard to track hunters in unauthorized areas. Also, he now cannot block silencer sales for residents he suspects may not use them responsibly.

A hunter himself, Gregoire said he saw little reason to encourage silencer use.

"I don't think they're necessary for home protection and I don't think they're necessary for hunting," he said.



I like how these people who are obviously very Anti-2A need to qualify themselves "Well, I have a concealed carry permit, BUT...." or "I'm an avid hunter, BUT....." What you're really trying to say is you don't want people to have the freedom to do something you don't like or understand. Yeah, a suppressor isn't needed to make a gun go BOOM but they are sure damn nice to have. If I have to shoot someone in my house at 3am, at least with a suppressor on my 10.5" rifle, the effects of a magazine getting fired off will have less of an impact on my toddler.

That has only goosed sales further. The Silencer Shop, an online retailer, says it is now selling 6,000 units per month, double its usual figure.

"Once you shoot with a suppressor," said owner Dave Matheny, "you end up getting one for every gun you own."
