I was asked by agentcox000 for some more pictures of my Tactical Tailor MAV (Modular Assault Vest) 2 Piece, so here they are. A few notes: I replaced the standard harness with the "X" harness, added a 5.56 triple mag pouch, a multi-purpose pouch, a multi-tool pouch, a grimloc with flexcuffs, and a "POLICE" panel on the front and back. The "POLICE" panels are attached with "hook and pile" (velcro) tape and can be ripped off if need be. The rear "POLICE" panel lies on top of a custom piece of velcro that was attached by Tactical Tailor, as was the piece of velcro on the front of the multi-purpose pouch, which I have an "O NEG" and red cross patches on. I also attached a Ka-bar large TDI knife behind the multi-purpose pouch. In the pictures I tried to show how I set my pouches up and how I still have functional use of my duty belt and how I can draw my handgun without problems.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Great series of images, it shows nicely that you can still access your entire batbelt. With my heavy armor, I am certainly a little more restricted. With my LBV, there are no problems, but I think the MAV may still be a better evolution for me.

great pics !
Thanks

not trying to be a smart ass, but if you index your prim. mags , have you tried putting them in the mag pouches facing the other direction? that way you wont have to brak your wrist and have a faster reload. (or do you beercan them?

Venom - I don't see your comment as being SA'd, but rather a good point. I have used that set up of my mags for a while, including when I was PSD in Iraq. That is the way that I started carrying them, and had never given it a thought of changing it. My thought was if it works, go with it.

I changed it around this morning to try your suggestion out. In reality, I like your way better and I can see how it can make my reloads faster. I will need to change my muscle memory, but that isn't something that will take too long to adapt to.

Thanks for the suggestion. And we are all learning on a daily basis to make ourselves better in what we do. If you have a valid suggestion, it is not being SA'd, but trying to help others become more proficient.

If I hadn't ordered my Tactical Tailor MAV 2 piece already.. I would be sold. Also had ordered the X-Harness as well. I also bought the same magazine holder... :)

What are the items between the 3 mag pouch and the velcro Police label? (There' 4 of them, 2 each on the outer mag pouch on picture 1)

They are called MALICE Clips. Follow the links to see more and get a more defined description.

Wow.. I've seen the pictures of that on Tactical Tailor, but I wouldn't have guessed that they looked that big.. TT pictures make it look very narrow.. just to show pictures can be deceiving. Thanks for the info.

We've been looking at a similar setup. We however have a need for a radio carrier (Motorola) and shotshells as well.

I like the way you put the panels on there. We mostly work in civies and our biggest fear is unintended or friendly fire by other officers from other agencies who don't know who we are.

If there is one thing about WEVO that stands head and shoulders above the rest of the field, it is the uncompromisingly high quality of our imagery -- and you've just strengthend our case in that regard, z7o. Well done.

Its just that huge ass multipin connector on the Motorola radios. The plain radio will fit in an M4 mag pouch, but with anything plugged into the side it becomes problomatic. (sp)

Of course with our admins, the thing needs to be pink with yellow reflective tape on it so as to not scare anyone..... [:D]

Thanks

I have a Motorola XTS5000 radio with a multi-pin connector on the side. The next time I go down to TT, I will test it out myself personally. I will try to get down there early next week and try to get you an answer. If you don't have an answer by Wednesday, please PM me.

I tested the large radio pouch yesterday. My Motorola XTS5000 fits in the pouch without any issues, even with the multi-pin connector. The pouch is adjustable and has a flap on the front to allow you to conceal the front lit display for light discipline. I also picked up some shotgun shell pouches.

I will get some pictures up on here in the next few days so you can visualize the concept a little easier.

In the meantime, if you have any additional questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my ability....or I will at least track down an answer for you.

Hope this helps in the short term.

Lancelot - In response to your question, about the radio and whether or not it would fit in the TT large radio pouch, here are some pictures to help you make your decision.

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8434.jpg

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8435.jpg

Below you can see how the front flap can be lifted up and secured by the top straps so you can have light discipline when your radio's screen is lit up.

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8438.jpg

The bottom of the radio pouch can be rolled up to adjust for different radio sizes. The "roll" is secured by the front strap and buckle. The front strap and buckle can be adjusted by shortening or letting out the nylon cord which is attached to the top buckle.

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8437.jpg

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8435.jpg

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8441.jpg

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8440.jpg

Also, here are some pictures reference your comment about having a need for shotgun ammunition. On the left is the Shotgun Vertical 6 round panel and on the right is the Shotgun Horizontal 6 round panel.

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8447.jpg

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8461.jpg

On the Shotgun Horizontal 6 round panel, make sure you leave enough room for the rounds to be removed without obstruction from other pouches.

http://i726.photobucket.com/albums/ww265/zero7one/2009_03_18_IMG_8457.jpg

And if you need some more real estate on the front of a MAV 2 piece where the buckles connect, you have the option of attaching a MAV Center Adapter, which will attach to itself via velcro once you buckle the two sides of the MAV together.

Hello from Oregon. I'll be here the rest of the week. As soon as I get back home I'll start working on this. I appreciate the help. I sent an email to TT per your suggestion and got a same day response. Great customer service.

Lancelot,

They have a good staff at Tactical Tailor, if you are looking for a solid POC, ask for Andy or Alicia. There is no doubt in my mind that either will take good care of you. The rest of them have been nothing but great to me as well, but they are the two that I seem to always talk to.

After seeing Zero7One's rig I realized that was exactly what I had been looking for to carry with me on duty for an active shooter rig. I called Tactical Tailor and have been completely taken care of by Andy. He quoted me a price promptly and helped me with a couple of small changes I wanted to make. Great products with great customer service. Thanks again Eric for creating this post.

This is my version of zero7one's Tactical Tailor 2 Piece MAV rig. I made a couple of small changes like adding a name tape to the X Harness. Also instead of using the Multi-Purpose pouch as a 'catch all', I divided it up into three separate pouches: TT Multi-tool pouch, TT Small utility pouch for cuffs, and a HSGI Bleeder/Blowout for medical gear. HSGI attached a custom velcro panel to their pouch and I mounted a custom Red Cross/Blood-type patch that Tactical Tailor made for me.

Also you'll see behind the magazines there is TT's new Joey Hydration Pouch. I do not have the hydration system to go in it yet, as I am looking for something with a black or gray hose, instead of the tan one offered by Tactical Tailor. It does fit a Nalgene bottle quite nicely in the meantime.

This rig has performed great the last couple of times I used it at the range. It has very good balance and keeps the essentials right up front where I need them, instead of stuffed in BDU pockets. My intention for this rig is to use for active shooter situations or any other scenario where I need to deploy my rifle. Thanks again for help zero7one.

agentcox000- Your MAV looks great. I have recently added the MAV Center Adapter and moved my 3 mag pouch closer to center. It helped out a lot with accessing the magazines.

Adding the center adapter.. is it still easy to access the 2 release cliips? I was considering getting one of those center pieces, and move my 3 mag pouch closer to the center and follow behind that a couple of pistol mag holders.

EDIT: Nevermind.. just noticed the picture of your center piece. Looks a little annoying to unvelcro to remove harness, but it does look easy to do.

Have you had problems with full mags in the pouches and unvelcroing? Looks like it would get in the way since the velcro opens from left to right and I plan to have my 3 mag pouch on the left side..

Accessing the clips with the Center Adaptor piece is no problem. You can mount the adaptor to either open to the right or left. A plus with the Center Adaptor is that if you need to throw the vest on and don't have time to buckle the clips, you can just fold over the velcro panels and the MAV is secure. And there is no issues with unvelcroing the Center Adapter with the 3 mag pouch attached.

Side note...The great thing about the MAV is that it is modular...hence the name "Modular Assault Vest". Each MAV can be built to the user's needs. Where one set-up may work out great for me, it may not work for someone else, and vice versa. There is no one perfect solution.

this looks like a great setup! im thinking ill store my mag pouches on my belt along with my dump bag and side arm.

So after spending a day at the range, the first I've actually had to do some serious training with this rig, I found only one issue.

I had the skateboard tape on my PMags for extra grip. This proved to work against me when trying to get my mags out for reload drills. My guess would be if I really did hundreds of reps and got the material worn down it wouldn't be as much of an issue. But, since I already have ranger plates on the mags I went ahead and removed the skater tape. Made reloads much easier, and I honestly didn't have a grip issue either. I think I'll keep the tape on my other mags, just not on these 3 in my MAV.

Great rig though, will be great for the day I actually deploy it for an active shooter (not if, but when).
