So, I'm taking off my old stock rail that came on my Radical 10.5" 300 BLK upper and I find this style of nut. My combo wrench is too big to span the holes and work properly and I don't want to buy several different wrenches I'm not going to use again. Does anybody have something that would work on this I could borrow? I'll cover the shipping both ways. If not, can you point me toward a shop that sells one? I would be most appreciative!

according to their website it takes a standard USGI barrel nut wrench. I actually don't have one of those but it should be pretty easy for you to track down someone who does.

Sorry, all I have is a combo wrench also. Have you considered a strap wrench? Not sure if you could get enough torque to break it loose, but they start at around $8.50 at Wally World - cheaper than two way postage to borrow one.

I thought about the strap wrench. Do you think it could generate enough torque to break the nut loose? 40 to 70 ft/lbs seems like it'd break the plastic wrenches. Worth a try regardless for ten bucks I guess.

Slow and easy would be the key here, maybe a little hair dryer heat first.

Looks like it's similar to a Seekins MCSR barrel nut. It's already been suggested, but your standard 2 pin armorers wrench should do the trick.

Looking at it (in admitted ignorance) why wouldn't a couple of piece of threaded rod at the proper diameter at say, 12 and 6, and just crank it off like a large T handle?

Always used a Tapco multi wrench for those. Doubt a strap wrench will come close to the break away torque needed to free that nut. I also suspect any threaded rod that small of a diameter would do much against that nut. Get it hot with a torch and you might get lucky.

Gonna spend the coin for the lagpul wrench. I'll at least get other use out of it.

Highly recommended at the Semper Paratus armorers course. I'll be picking one up shortly.
