I know it might be wrong but I kind of really want one.
Someone posted a picture in the ARFCOM thread and got my interest again. At $500+ I’m not in the market right now but if they were to come down I’d see myself getting one just for the hell of it.

Anyone here have one?

I like the idea too. Been watching them on IG. Not sure what the advantage would be in use other than mixing traditional with modern and having a legal alternative for modularity in controlled states.

I know Triple Bravo has one or had one. I'll see if he can answer.

I've wanted one of those for a while too. Like that it's piston. Not as "good looking" as the Ares though.

I'll keep an eye out if he posts what he thinks.

Those both look terrible. [BD]

Guessing for ban states they work well though.

I've got one of the Ares Defense SCR lowers on loan for photos. Part of the price involves the fact that the lower comes with the specialized BCG required to make it work.

When used with an upper like the one in the photo below, I find it hard to get a good cheek weld while maintaining the proper sight picture through folding sights like the MBUS on this upper. I haven't tried it yet, but I suspect that you'd need a lower mount for a red dot sight.

My take on it is that it's a great solution for those living in ban states like NY (though the set up below is actually not compliant with NYsafe because it has a muzzle device). Beyond that, it's creates fairly unique looking builds when it's used with different uppers. It has grown on my the longer I've had it.

(I realize my finger is on the trigger. This is a posed photo for marketing purposes, and I use a number of safety measures prior to photo shoots like this.)

I'm also interested in hearing more about these lowers as well. Does anyone know if Ares plans on making a lower that can fit AR-15 trigger groups?
