View Full Version : The Evolution of an AR

Sitting here looking at my rifle I started thinking of how many iterations it's gone through.
The only parts left from the original rifle when I picked it up are;

Mag release (though not the button)
Trigger, sear and hammer
Rear sight
Buffer & Spring

Looking at replacing those parts all but the buffer and spring. Haha.
Just found it funny and thought I'd share. Here are some pics through it's life.

The day I brought it home, 5/13/2013. Previous owner spray painted the entire rifle semi-gloss black.... [BD]
Wasn't too long after this that some stick guy brought me here with his 50k celebration. All downhill from there.

And as she sits now. New receivers. Only minor changes coming, the parts listed above to be swapped. Only the buffer and spring will be original parts. Amazing two three years.

And just for shits and giggles, my "real" first AR. Bought back in 2006 as a birthday gift to myself, had it for a couple months and sold it. Never really liked it. I am sure you can see why.

I am pretty much the exact opposite. I never change parts once I've completed the build. Other than defects or actual function issues.

Some nice shots btw.

After the last couple parts it's staying this way for a while.

Thanks man.

Nice !!

Looks like the "As she sits now" is not the same upper or lower that is in the first set of pictures ... or, are they all different rifles ??

That's my point. Little by little it became a completely new rifle.

Jerry's dementia is setting in. By the 5th post, he forgot the content of the OP. :)

When I get my rifles just right, I don't change them. Still waiting for that to happen.

Nice evolution of camera skills and setup too.
