I am getting ready to build a new rifle and I'm fairly certain I'm going to use the Daniel Defense 9.0 Omega rail system. I'm trying to get an idea of which low profile gas block will work the best under this rail system and which one looks the best. Any pictures would be appreciated!

I need to find some images of the Vltor low profile block, thats my other favorite.

Great pics! Does the DD use hex bolts only to hold it in place and if so do they provide a solid lock up. I also like the Vltor low profile gas block as well. Any pics of that would be greatly appreciated. Also any pics shown with the Omega rail system (7.0 or 9.0) would be helpful. Does anyone have any experience with either the DD or the Vltor gas blocks?

The Stag Low profile gas block is also worth looking at (similar to VLTOR but less money)

If you are going to use one of these types of gas blocks, it's better if you can drill out the dimple holes deeper. Also, I use a thread locker as well as staking the setscrews in place. That way, it's 100% secure.

I like VLTOR & DD's gas blocks. I think La Rue has some and what John said.. Stag.
Now the question is will the gas block be viewable.. if so I like the VLTOR look with there logo in the front.

I really like the look of the Vltor. If I end up using the DD Omega 9.0 how much of that low profile gas block will even be visible? Can anyone provide any pics of that perticular rail system with any different gas blocks?

A thing of beauty Stick..

I would imaging it would look similar to what Stickman has shown with his Lite Rail.

Thanks Stick! How far is that gas block recessed inside of the 9.0 rail? Also, how much of the ga block would be exposed if I went with the 7.0 Omega. Thanks

With a 7.0, the entire block would be exposed.

i think i read somewhere you couldnt use a carbine gas system with a 9.0 omega...

Anyone care to chime in on this? The rifle will more than likely be a 16" barelled Rock River Arms. If the Omega 9.0 will not work, which I couldn't see why it wouldn't, then I need to consider other options. I'm not oppose to the Omega 7.0 I just could use the extra rail space!

You have to use a very narrow low profile gas block, but there are people using the Omega series over gas blocks.

Thats good news, do you think the daniel defense low pro gas block would work? if not which ones would work?

The Daniel Defense, STAG, VLTOR will all fit under the DD OMEGA series.

There is a tool which is made if you are looking for perfect alignment. I've had no problems carefully lining them up by hand on my personal builds.

Thank you.

Sounds like a winner. Any idea what it's called? If possible, a resource would be great.

I've seen them up at the Rainier Arms shop, but I'm not sure if they are on their website or not. I have not seen them for sale anywhere else, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there other places.

WOW. That is absolutely what I need. Problem I searched for it, every which way, and can not locate it. Any way you can get me a link to that gas blaock? I would pay double for something like that, I cant believe no one else is making something like that.

Much thanks!!

Check the Rainier Arms website, it should be under the tool section or something like that.

I have a Vltor low profile gas block pinned to the barrel underneath a 12in Omega X.

The tool that helps line things up is actually this one: http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1089

It's used to dimple the barrel for the set screws and achieves allignment by setting up over the gas port in the barrel. No matter what low pro gas block you use that has set screws, the rear most set screw is always set up 180 degrees around the barrel from the gas port hole.

The tool Stick posted is used to pin a low pro gas block in place once on the barrel. I talk about its use in this post: http://www.weaponevolution.com/forum/showthread.php?3271-Are-pinned-gas-blocks-taper-pinned&p=30466#post30466
