Picked up the Bootleg upper which has been recently released. You may recognize it from the new Primary Weapons Systems MK1 Mod 2 (owner of Bootleg) and also the Agency Arms Classified rifle.

I didn't take pics of the receiver alone. You can find those online.

Details worth noting:

Tolerances are excellent. Barrel extension fits snug in the receiver. Port door rod holes are tight (lube helps).

The mating lines to lowers is within spec. While it lacks a "b pillar" on the left side, the edges match with most of my lowers at the groove behind the bolt catch. On the right size, the edges also match well but for the angle down at the back of the dust cover. Just like my Colt upper, that angled edge matches further back than the mating angle on every lower I have, including my Colt. Apart from that detail, this matched well with Colt, BMC, CMT, V7 Enlightened, AXTS... In fact the AXTS was the best match of the lowers I tested, visually speaking. All the lowers had excellent tolerances with this upper.

The port door guide rod is not exposed once fully installed. It would be a mini-project troubleshooting how to extract it.

I was unsure what rail to use with this, but went with the Fortis/Rainier Night rail. The unique barrel nut matches well with the curves on the front of upper. They look made for each other. I think this configuration will remain a permanent setup: a solid lightweight setup.

Specs:
Bootleg upper receiver
Fortis/Rainier Night rail 14"
BAD barrel 16"
BAD gas block
VG6 Epsilon w/cage
VSeven port door

Weight without BCG and CH: 3lb 1.4oz. With VSeven Ti BCG and AXTS raptor, weight is 3lbs 10.6oz. You can shave another 6oz with pencil barrel.

Now for some pics of the upper followed by pairing with my AXTS.

Thanks, Aragorn. What rail will you be pairing with your bootleg upper?

Thanks, Aragorn. What rail will you be pairing with your bootleg upper?

Possibly a SLR Ion 15" Keymod, but just as if not more likely a BCM KMR Alpha.

Don't suppose you have either of those to mock up do you? [:D]

I don't (and I don't do keymod either). Both are solid rails. If I was choosing, I'd lean toward the KMR in how I think the design will blend better with this upper (and I wish SLR didn't engrave their logo huge on that one). The gen 3 MI handguard would be a good candidate too if the anti-rotation tabs don't interfere.

Yeah, it's still up in the air, though I agree on both counts.

So how's it pair with the Mockingjay lower? Gonna use it?

The Mockingjay lower is an SSA. It pairs well overall but I'll probably use a CMT upper when they are back in stock. Not sure barrel length and rail yet. That will be a pistol when it's done.

Gotcha gotcha. Either way, super light and looks sick.

Thanks. It's a sweet rail. I have another build done but for a shorter Night rail to be released.

At first I copied Stickman's photo of his Night rail on the SMOS upper. But when the bootleg arrived, it took me little time to rethink it. The SMOS upper is more versatile and will be at home home with another rail at some point.

This is a satisfying setup all around. Sometimes a build with different parts just comes together well.

Tested today with the AXTS lower (A5 H2 buffer). Ran smooth. First round ejected the brass at 1 o'clock. Subsequent rounds ejected at 3 o'clock. Positive lock back of bolt on last round. We're GTG.
