Picked up the Bootleg upper which has been recently released. You may recognize it from the new Primary Weapons Systems MK1 Mod 2 (owner of Bootleg) and also the Agency Arms Classified rifle.
I didn't take pics of the receiver alone. You can find those online.
Details worth noting:
Tolerances are excellent. Barrel extension fits snug in the receiver. Port door rod holes are tight (lube helps).
The mating lines to lowers is within spec. While it lacks a "b pillar" on the left side, the edges match with most of my lowers at the groove behind the bolt catch. On the right size, the edges also match well but for the angle down at the back of the dust cover. Just like my Colt upper, that angled edge matches further back than the mating angle on every lower I have, including my Colt. Apart from that detail, this matched well with Colt, BMC, CMT, V7 Enlightened, AXTS... In fact the AXTS was the best match of the lowers I tested, visually speaking. All the lowers had excellent tolerances with this upper.
The port door guide rod is not exposed once fully installed. It would be a mini-project troubleshooting how to extract it.
I was unsure what rail to use with this, but went with the Fortis/Rainier Night rail. The unique barrel nut matches well with the curves on the front of upper. They look made for each other. I think this configuration will remain a permanent setup: a solid lightweight setup.
Specs:
Bootleg upper receiver
Fortis/Rainier Night rail 14"
BAD barrel 16"
BAD gas block
VG6 Epsilon w/cage
VSeven port door
Weight without BCG and CH: 3lb 1.4oz. With VSeven Ti BCG and AXTS raptor, weight is 3lbs 10.6oz. You can shave another 6oz with pencil barrel.
Now for some pics of the upper followed by pairing with my AXTS.
