Does anyone have experience working with the KAK Industries 12.5" barrel? They offer two versions. One has a carbine gas port. The second is midlength.

I am thinking the midlength might be a good choice for a long-term suppressed upper.

Does anyone have experience with this barrel--or any of KAK's barrels for that matter?

I don't have a kak but I do have a 12.5" mid length. Works great for suppressor use as mentioned.

Kak barrels in general are what they are. Decent for the price but won't win any competitions.

I'm not looking for a match quality barrel. As long as the barrel functions properly WRT extraction, etc and is accurate enough to hit a clay pigeon at 75 yards or so I think it'd work fine.

What are you using for a 12.5in barrel? COTS or something custom?

Faxon makes an 11.5" on the midlength system. They say it is for longterm suppressed use. But they also say an adjustable gas block is recommended. I'm hoping to keep things as simple as possible and use a standard block.

My 12.5" is from ARperformence and is dead accurate. I have a standard block on mine with no issues.

What're you using for a can? And how's the barrel work without the suppressor?

AAC 762-SD and works like any other barrel. Slightly overgassed when suppressed but not overbearing.

Ballistic Advantage may or may not be working on a 12.5" Hanson profile barrel. Maybe I'll wait awhile longer before deciding on a purchase.

I have a 12.5" mid Rock Creek Barrel from Rainier. I've shot it suppressed only, and it seems to cycle fine, but I've had limited time with it and only shot it suppressed.

The only KAK barrel I've ever shot is their 10.5" nothing exceptional or deficient to speak of there.

That is what I'm expecting given the rice. I think we'd have heard many great things about KAK by now if they were selling sub-MOA barrels for $103.

If I was in the market for a 5.56 12.5" barrel, I'd probably start with with AR15 Performance until convinced I found a better value. I have one of his 16" barrels in 6.8SPC and it's fantastic. I'm waiting for the 12.5" 6.8 SPC barrels to come back in stock.

I'll probably be in the market for an 11.5" 5.56 barrel next year. The War Sport 11.75" barrel looks interesting.

I've seen a Warsport rifle. Worth nowhere close to the money in my opinion.

Unless you think the paracord is worth the extra cash. [:D]

With the idea of having a small gas port you can modify?

The port isn't that small. The bigger question is this. What does the port size need to be on a 12.5" midlength in order for it to function properly? Is it going to be suppressed all the time? What does the 12.5" mid offer over a 12.5" carbine gas system that is ported correctly?
