Just thought I'd open this up for discussion. I've already contacted Desert to get on the wait list. I'm also considering back-ordering the 98B--not sure what vendor to select on this.

Anyone with first hand experience on both rifles?

The SRS looks like a hell of a setup and for the price point--an incredible value. The 98B also looks very well designed/built.

I've been leaning towards these two after reading reviews of TRG's burning out their barrels very quickly with .338. The Blaser gets mixed reviews. AI seems like a good setup, but the "gluing" process for the stock/barrel seems problematic. If I have to send the rifle back for maintenance every 1000 rounds that's like buying a Ferrari and having to have the engine pulled every 3k miles to have the valves adjusted. No thanks.

These two appear to be purpose built .338, I'm hoping that extends to a longer barrel life/less maintenance. I like DIY whenever possible.

I've heard good things about the Barrett, but I've never used either. I know thats not much help.
