First, I want to thank Sak007 for taking the time to teach me the fundamentals of long range shooting. Its all his fault the following happened. This was my "Trump won" present to myself.

2206

I purchased a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor and outfitted it with:
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP
Vortex bubble level
Vortex Defender Scope Covers
Harris Bipod
Silencerco ASR brake

I also purchased 300 rounds of Hornady 140 ELD-M factory ammo, powder, cases, primers, sizing dies, Hornady modified case. We sized the reloads to -2/1000 off the lands.

Then I purchased a Sig Kilo 2000 and a LRI tripod mount. This is a great little range finder. Of course the day after I bought it Sig came out with the Sig Kilo 2400 with AB

2207

Then I downloaded Applied Ballistics and Shooter Apps and Sak007 helped me enter the correct data into the programs. I purchased the Snipers Hide data book and some extra pages form Impact Data books.

2208

Sak007 brought his sled to make sighting in easier.

2209

Now it was off to a really fun day of shooting.

2210

Sak007 has access to a really awesome covered set of ranges that we can stretch out to 1000 yds. We shot suppressed with a Silencerco 7.62 Specwar. Sak007 attached the magneto speed and we were ready to go! We started out on the 100 yd and shot from the sled. One half box of ammo in and we were close to perfect.

To be continued.

What powder were you using and how did it perform?

I'm going to start reloading 140gr AMAX pretty soon

I tried to find reloader 17 and H4350 without luck.
Sportsmans had a keg of Hodgdon Superformance.
Superformance shot well. I have a great starting point to pinpoint the sweet spot now.

I wanted to get a baseline with factory Hornady 140 ELD-M and Federal 140 OTM ammo.
20 shots of each yielded
Federal 140 OTM avg 2640
Hornady 140 ELD-M avg 2643

I worked up Superformance loads from 43.6 to 44.8 in increments of .3
the averages were 2646 to 2718.

The 44.8 load at 2718 fps grouped nice and tight. I will start there. I noticed most people having success with 2740 fps - 2800 fps.

Try some Berger 140 Hybrid Target bullets. It will make a big difference the farther you go out there.

I wasn't aware of the Kilo 2400. That sounds pretty cool. I'll take the 2000 off my Amazon wish list. :)

Thanks for the scoop on your shooting location. Looks like an awesome spot. That's about a 3 hour drive for me but my family and I love it out there on the Peninsula and we usually spend a few days out there ever year. Didn't get as much time out there this year as we'd like to, though.

I'm considering that same optic for the AR308 build currently in progress.

Congrats on the new rifle and new addiction to long range shooting.
