View Full Version : Christmas Ideas?

I enjoy holidays but sometimes Christmas is a pain in the butt.

My tastes are expensive but I don't want to be rude or make people feel bad by asking for a ton of expensive stuff. At the same time I have gotten asked about 15 times 'what do you want' and honestly it's hurting my brain thinking about it.

I would like to get forum help in making a Christmas list that myself or others can use, reference, or get ideas from. It could be applicable this year or next to be honest, or for your birthday, or whenever. Let's say these 'gifts' should be no more than $200 to $300 total, but $40 to $50 a piece is more like it. It might be more--but less is better.

Instead of getting a new pair of underwear and socks from your Aunt let's make a list of stuff that is not that expensive that we can ask for [:D] When she asks just send her a link and say 'this'. I know most people are going to say 'gift card' but but a lot of people insist on actually getting you 'something', but even if they do get you a gift card why not get one from somewhere cool?

Here is what I can think of off the top of my head:

-Bullets (for reloading)
-ammo
-spare brass
-spare mags (rifle or pistol)
-AR trigger pack(s)
-Furniture, hand stops,etc (magpul/griffin/etc)
-A scope leveling kit, vertical grip, light mount, etc from Arisaka
-muzzle device
-ammo cans (for storage)
-back up sites
-powder or primers
-hats, hoodies, or sweatshirts from your favorite people
-Gun tools of some sort (like a reaction rod or bev block)
-gift card to silencer shop
-gun bag or clamshell case

Anything else? Remember that the idea is to err on the side of less is more.

One thing I asked for that isn't gun related was some of the bottles from here:

https://www.rticcoolers.com/shop/drinkware

That big 64oz or 36oz bottle is perfect to take on a road trip, to the range, or hunting and it's only $20 bucks.

I also asked for a trigger from Kidd Custom so I could finally get back on track with my 10/22 build.

When people do that to me, I just ask for Magpul stuff. It doesn't seem threatening to non-gun owners, especially MBUS's

My people aren't threatened by guns at all...but then again some do and some don't know about things. Hell, every family reunion I go to involves a skeet shoot. [:D] Everybody knows to bring guns an ammo...

When I really got to thinking about it I could seriously make a master list and pick stuff off of that list regardless of the occasion.

I have a birthday in about 2 months so I could even ask everyone to pitch in so I can get something good. If I get 3 or 4 $50 gift cards to CMT Tactical... not too bad of an idea.

None the less I've spent the last 2-3 hours making a Christmas list all the while trying to keep everyone's budgets in mind...

A small personal safe that fits in my nightstand made my list this year. The twins are mobile, so I had to make things a bit more secure before they can climb steps and reach doorknobs.

The magpul hunter 700 is on my list too

Very un-scary. Who wouldn't want a butt pad?

That's exactly what I am going to start doing for everyone who asks me what I want for Christmas, Birthday, Hanukka, Kwanza, etc.

I also like my idea of getting a gift card to one place from everyone. 4x $50 gift cards is pretty much a billet reciever set...or even a tax stamp for a silencer.

I joke, but I actually need one of those. That's why God invented site wish lists...so I can keep track of all of the things I "need."

Every year I tell my wife a mini gun. Never happens.

Lol

She did get me a 2.5" 686 2 years ago and said it was the smallest gun they had. Actually love that thing.

Does the ATF sell gift cards?

I'm asking for an FFL/SOT.

Steel targets and/or target stands. Tools. Reloading gear ideas: case gages, reloading manuals, universal decapping die, case specific reloading trays, ultrasonic cleaner.

I always try to stick with non-consumable items for gifts.

I picked up one of these combos, pouch and Twist, for my brother. It came out to about $60 with a code.

So far this thread has turned out to be pretty interesting. Figuring out stuff you don't have but don't know you really need is kind of fun! [:D]

But seriously though... keep on bringing it on.

I guess its an interesting solution to the age old 'does dad get another tie this year' question or 'do we get him something cool'...

Redding or RCBS hand priming tool.
Bench-mount primer pocket swager.
Forster case trimmer.
Lucas bore guide.
Triad Tactical wedge bag and/or shooting mat.
Darn Tough Vermont socks. They're not just socks, they're magic.
Rainier has a pretty nice rifle case that's ~50 bucks shipped if you have Apex.
