Okay PB stopped working on my iPad Pro. Since I see some here use imgur I installed the app. Uploading I can do. But how do I copy and paste a pic from there? All i can get is a link. Also, can I post pics from private (only me) gallery? I really don't care for all the comment chatter.

Same with instagram. I can only post a link like this;
https://instagram.com/p/BLkbUASjuJz/

Okay. Gost said I can post from my photo ibrary with the tree icon. Here goes... Hallelluja, it works. Sure is a big'un. I'll keep fudding with imgur just in case I can figure it out. Big thanks bro.

Now I'm lost, what tree icon. My photobucket keeps saying I have a fake virus so I gave up. Did Imgur and man I'm more lost

Reply "go advanced". Tree is the icon on the right middle row of this screenshot.

Click tree. Hit choose file, then tap upload. Wish I had known this years ago.

Thank you so much. My issue was trying to do it on my phone. Will attempt it on my computer

The option to be able to upload from your computer is one of the upgrades that DeviantLogic installed.

Just FYI: I use Photobucket exclusively on the app on the iPhone. I've had very few issues with it.

I've used Photobucket for years on my iPad. This is the first time it crapped out. I can sign in okay and browse my library. But whe I hit upload it just reverts to the sign in page.

Whenever I log in to photobucket from ANYWHERE, it re-routes me back to the login and kicks out my saved information.

Looks like I need a new free hosting site.

Okay. Was able to log on after several attempts via Safari. No joy with Chrome. Here goes post attempt from library:

Good. At least I know the years of pics previously up loaded are not lost forever. Now will try to upload new from iPad Pro. 3-2-1... and bam, back to log-in. Grrr.

Please let me know if you guys find another free hosting site as easy for old dinos to use. Preferably one that has been around a while and not likely to disappear. I've installed instagram and imgur, but appears they are different critters. More like Facebook?

Bit of dino serendipity: I uploaded a few old gun photos from ipad to imgur to try diferent tools to emulate photobucket. Next thing I know I'm getting comments from strangers all over the world. Had no idea it was even public. Then a pic of a pair of Sigs went viral, at least by the site's definition. 55,000 views in 24 hours! I gave up on responding to the idjuts scooling me on why mounting a light is stupid and can + light is uber retarded.

Imgur is a picture hosting site with a strong social media influence, but it's still picture hosting first and foremost. Instagram is an actual social media site, albeit one centered around picture sharing. Imgur is a good, free choice.

I personally use flickr, which is owned by Yahoo, so... who knows how that'll go. It's also not the most user-friendly for actually hosting stuff on a forum, if you're not up to speed with BBCode. However, unlike Imgur, it allows a variety of automatic resizing, and allows me to keep the original photos, so I'd rather use that than Imgur (along with the fact that I'm not particularly fond of the Imgur community).

If you can figure out the Imgur direct image link (basically the link that ends in .jpg, .png, etc.), an easy way to embed the picture is to use simply use the actual code. Basically, your_image_url.jpg.

Example.

http://i.imgur.com/Y2KiM1q.jpg is the direct image link; Imgur appears to automatically redirect you to the gallery side if you just click it, but if you copy and paste that link, you'll get the original link.

You would want to write http://i.imgur.com/Y2KiM1q.jpg

This is what gets posted:
http://i.imgur.com/Y2KiM1q.jpg

Alas, I can locate no such image links. And I still hope to find a platform that will allow me to just copy/paste the code like photobucket. That was so simple.

It's not available in the app, but you can easily use the mobile website, too, to get to it. Honestly, apps in general are a fucking retarded concept, IMO.

If you really wanted to, though, you can quite easily get the direct URL through the Imgur app, at least on Android.

You would then have the URL copied onto your clipboard. Write what you want in the post, write , then paste the link, then write after the link.

Sucess! Pic with all the views. So much easier to navigate through the browser. At least once I located the drop down menu. Didn't even need to do the copy to clip board. And the img brackets were already attached to the url when I selected BBCode. Just copy/paste and voila! Deleting the frustrating app pronto. I'll never use it on an iPhone anyway. When I finally get around to buying one.

Big thanks for the help Default.

On second thought I'll keep the app. The screen icon is quick and as a viewer and uploader only, it serves a purpose.

Out of curiosity, why is one 226 longer than the other? Or am I just seeing a parallax issue from the camera?

Uffdaphil
6 December 2016, 14:51
That is weird. Stickman will know why, but I have no clue. I just measured the to be sure one didn't shrink to .380 and nope.

gatordev

Presumably it's just parallax. I was just making sure one of them wasn't something else.

Congrats on getting uploads to work, photobucket has become so damn bloated and slow. Hate giving them any traffic anymore.

Quick question, what are the BUIS in your photo? I don't recognize them but love how minimalist they look.

Those are the new Griffin M2 sights. Look like high quality. No telling when I'll get to shoot with 'em. Mpls is going in the deep freeze and I hate the indoor ranges close by. But my Black Friday Sionics 11.5 upper is due Tuesday and 5.56 Recce 5 can in a few weeks so that will be worth a little frostbite. Plus I usually get the range to myself in winter.

The older I get the more I laugh at my first world complaints. Fweezing my widdle fingers while blasting away on a suppressed SBR. Life here and now is indeed good. Without the time spent in a third world sh#* hole I know I would appreciate it far less.

This shows profile vs Mbus Pro. Both plenty of scope clearance.

IMGUR help

I tried to create an account, and it consistently tells me from my iphone or my desktop that I need to "Try back later"

and a friend of mine with an imgur account can't even log in, and gets a message saying "This IMGUR page isn't working".

Is there ANOTHER photo sharing site I can try for hosting?

I use Flickr, and I know a lot of other people here use it too. I also use Microsoft one drive as a backup for images, and use that for sharing photos with friends/family.

Thanks for the comparison too. I have MBUS Pros so that gives me a great reference for how low pro they are.

I hear ya on temps, just reached 12 degrees in the morning here. I just bought some AR500 steel targets and am dying for a free weekend to try them out, it's just so damn cold.
