Bumping this thread for opinions.

Seems this round has hit an enthusiastic nerve among barrel companies. I've read various opinions on it and curious what WEVOs think.

Is there an advantage over 223/556 that I'm not seeing for nearly all practical purposes?

Just waiting on some barrels to hit the market.

25% case capacity increase and velocities 300fps faster is quite a significant amount of improvement. Something like 30% over a 5.56 in regards to energy.

Are you looking for any brand in particular?

WOA has some out there already...they are a solid brand.

Also see one from Odin, but I don't know much about them

AR Performance has a barrel too.

Proof, Noveske, Radian, and apparently Colt are getting in the game. I have an email out to proof on the weight of the CF and stainless versions since they are offering both.

SINNER, what role would this play for you? Longer reach on varmints? Precision shooting?

This was my thought process too. What will this caliber do better? What benefits will be gained in the big picture of things to make me want to add it to another caliber that I need to stock?

White Oak has been backordered since they listed them. No threaded muzzles on any listed either. Def looking for a higher end barrel. Not set on any one brand.

Range toy like most. Wouldn't hunt anything but coyotes or pests with a small caliber like that.

I currently don't have any interest in 22 Nosler, but if I did, the ARP barrel would be high on my list: http://www.ar15performance.com/inc/sdetail/38016/46437

If standard barrels are coming in at 44oz like the ARP, I'll probably pass on the caliber on barrel weight alone.

It's a 20" heavy profile barrel.

My Rainier 16" match & Ultramatch barrels weigh 34oz and my 18" SPR/Match is 41oz.

That's a pretty common weight for a long, heavy profile barrel.

4.5 POUNDS

You pretty much beat me to it. Same caliber as a 5.56 so weight will be identical to any equally profiled, identical length 5.56 barrel.

I have a few of the ARP barrels and have been more than pleased with them. The owner of the company on the other hand...

And costs $940

$827 at stockys. And $40 less than that if it hits Rainier. But at those prices, whose counting?

I wanted to know the weight for comparisons.

Not Sinner. He's got firearm related equipment/machinery at his house that costs more than most people's cars.

Magnum style cartridges erode the throat much faster than styles such as the .223 and .308.

This translates into barrels that degrade much quicker.

With physics you just can't have it all.

From the Nosler company newsletter- "Lets convince people that passing the point of diminishing returns will yield more returns sometime in the unforeseeable future, that way we can make more money and juice up our profit margins"[bash]

Somebody please tell me what this does for me that my already paid for 556 rifle cant do?

If I wanted a souped up .22 caliber rifle, I'd buy a .22-250.

I can push a 53gr VMax at almost 3500fps through my 18" .223 Wylde......I personally have no need for the .22 Nosler.

If I had the time and the inclination to try out something new JUST to try out something new, or if I had hit a wall with the .223/5.56 needing to sap just a tad bit more out of the caliber......but I'm in neither position.
