ZEV Technologies, Inc. and Mega Arms, LLC Announce Merger

Oxnard, CA – January 26, 2017 – Today ZEV Technologies, Inc. and Mega Arms, LLC announced their plans to combine the companies.
ZEV Technologies Chairman and CEO, Matt Ridenour, said, “We are tremendously excited about what this combination brings to the market. Both of our brands are focused on top tier products, and our customers are very excited about ZEV’s addition of a line of AR and rifle products.”

Mega Arms President, Mike Miller, will immediately take responsibility for ZEV’s and Mega’s manufacturing operations. According to Miller, “These two companies fit together like a puzzle. We will bring our Quality Management System and manufacturing experience, and ZEV brings amazing design, engineering, and marketing skills and the financial strength to facilitate our continued growth”.

Ridenour commented that “I want to emphasize to customers of both companies that, in the near term, nothing will change in our approach to the market. Both brands and product lines will remain in place. We will use 2017 as an opportunity to talk to our customers and evaluate all the ways to add value through the combined company”.

Seems like they both could gain tremendously by that merger.

I heard this rumor awhile ago, honestly surprised it actually happened. Looking forward to seeing where this takes both companies.

Big news for ZEV. For Mega too I'm sure.
I wonder if this is MEGA diversifying in what is a saturated AR market.

More likely Mega picking up an good entry into the Glock world.

It is difficult for AR brands to get into the pistol world.

I noticed that Zev had taken over Mega's IG account. You can't tag Mega anymore. I stopped following them because it's 80% Zev pistol pics (and I don't like their style). Is Mega changing its name to Zev now too?

We talked to ZEV awhile back. They are keeping the Mega brand, but about a month ago merged all social media accounts to just ZEV. I don't think this is a good move personally, especially if they plan on keeping the Mega name/brand out there... precisely because of the reason you just stated. Their pictures are mostly of their pistols, and any rifle shots I've seen are with the pistols...but then again I'm not the manager of a multi-million dollar entity, so I'll just sit back and enjoy my Mega Rifles and ZEV pistols. Did ZEV buy MEGA? I thought it was the other way around. Surprised ZEV had that kind of capital.

Yes Zev purchased Mega. When you sell $2k glocks it adds up fast. Lol

Mega does need help with marketing. Their website is horrible and they need fewer billboard logos on their rifles. But the quality overshadows those hurdles. To me, ZEV is a clash with the Mega audience rather than enhancement. Oh well, whatevs. ZEV may only want Mega's machining book of business.

Heard through the grapevine along the same lines as the post above. Dealers are getting their last batch of Mega branded receivers, before it all switches over to ZEV. If you want a Mega branded lower, ect, better get on it now.

Will do, need a stripped mega maten 308 upper. The search is on

If ZEV will leave their branding off the upper, I'd prefer an unmarked MATEN upper. But if it's cover in zev and hexes, oh crap, better buy now.

Guess they changed their mind huh? Why would you 86 the Mega name when it was just a merger. I wont be buying them anymore. Way to take something that works and fuck it up. Maybe they can write " ZEV- formerly known as Mega" On the new lowers. Its shit like that that pisses me off.

Looks like Jason Curns has moved on from Mega/ZEV to Grey Ghost Precision. Good move for him.

Well looks like in a reversal, the Mega name is being brought back. If you noticed, several retailers, such as Rainier and DSG Arms had Mega uppers/lowers restocked this month. Rainier told me that ZEV will push out Mega Orders quarterly.

If you never got to finish that Mega forged Set because you didn't have an upper, they're starting to trickle out again.

I just blew good cash on a maten stripped upper thinking I couldn't get one... damn it

UWone77

Why is it coming back now?

Good question, I don't know the answer to that. My guess is they can use the Mega brand for a lower priced alternative. Only so many 2-3K ZEV rifles you can move. That market is tiny.

Im sure they have been getting requests from Megas old customers and dealers ever since they decided to stop making them. When sales get slow you have to broaden your horizens...

fledge
29 March 2020, 21:58
My guess is also that mega has brand loyalty in the AR department. Mega was a solid, no nonsense, solid tool brand. I never developed brand trust with Zev and saw them as the opposite—mass produced, flashy, Glock aftermarket company.

I think they should have kept the mega brand running as the rifle division when Zev took over.

I hope we see maten wedgelock handguards coming back to market.

Looks like ZEV officially brought back Mega on a regular basis. There is an announcement, and Mega products are listed again on the ZEV online store.
