Maryland's ban on 45 kinds of assault weapons and its 10-round limit on gun magazines were upheld Tuesday by a federal appeals court in a decision that met with a strongly worded dissent.

In a 10-4 ruling, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, said the guns banned under Maryland's law aren't protected by the Second Amendment.

"Put simply, we have no power to extend Second Amendment protections to weapons of war," Judge Robert King wrote for the court, adding that the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller explicitly excluded such coverage.

Welcome to the struggle that we experience in NY. Someone's looking get a promotion and is playing games with your rights. Happened here, we were shocked. Figured there was no way they would uphold SAFE act... they did. Corruption runs deep young padowan

Weapons of war? Are you Fng kidding me? I suppose everyone needs to dig out your black powder rifles and muskets out for a mass confiscation. Anyone have one of those bamboo sticks the Chinese used to load with gun powder and shards of metal, rock and whatever they might have on hand? Bows, spears? Turn those in too. I'm so sick of the activist circuit courts.

Surprised, not surprised. These are the reasons why I think people are having a wet dream trying to repeal the NFA or the Hughes Amendment. It's not just having a Pro Gun president or the House and Senate.

Appeal that shit all the way up the hill. It IS all about the Supreme Court. All it takes is a few more people of Trey Gowdy's stripe to teach all these would-be legislators the meaning of "Supreme Law of the Land".

It concerns me that a court in my state did this. This circuit court bs needs to stop. The margin is getting narrower on this type of thing here. Northern va has the populous and is in no way on the same page as the rest of the state.

Look at the 4th Circuit judges. A handful of Reagan/Bush/Bush and majority Clinton/Obama appointments

If the 2a itself doesn't cover semi auto rifles, it doesn't cover anything on this reasoning.

House, Senate and President. Pass a bill to increase the number of Justices on SCOTUS. Divide the circuits and then pack those too.
