Hey folks, did another custom build. My hunting partner was wanting to build an AR in 300blk with a 16" barrel, to be used woth supersonic ammo for pigs and deer. He had me plan this build out, then throw it all together. The base of the rifle features a SanTan Tactical receiver set, with no logo. That is filled with Battle Arms Development take down pins and selector switch. For trigger, I selected the CMC 4.5 flat bow trigger. For buffer, I went with the new Geissele braided spring and H1 buffer. Very pleased with it, it feels absolutely great. I had been wanting to try out the new PWS buffer tube, with self locking castle nut, and I have to say, I am damn impressed. All of my future builds will be getting one. Upper parts include a Lantac EBCG, a southpaw friendly Geissele charging handle, a Wilson Combat 16" 300blk barrel, and the badass new Bootleg inc. Picmod rail. For those that don't know, this rail shares the same parts as the BCM KMR. Installation is a breeze, and feels and looks great. Got it together earlier, and test fired. Great ejection pattern suppressed, a tad over-gassed, but as this rifle will spend most of its life unsuppressed (he doesn't have his own suppressors yet) something I can live with. Looks good!

Curious to see how you or he likes that picmod Rail

Nice looking build, although 300 BLK wouldn't be my choice for hogs.

I haven't really shot with it, but I am pretty pleased with the craftsmanship. Very light weight, cannot tell the difference between it and a KMR.

Nice looking pig killer!

Being partial to .300 myself, I've wondered about the internal ballistics difference between an 8" to 10" barrel and a 16" one. As the system is designed to use pistol powder which burns off in @ 8", does the other 8" of barrel length impart velocity, or drag? Assuming residual pressure, I would guess it would have more speed, just less efficient use of energy. Also, what would changing to rifle length gas and longer burning powder do, given the finite capacity of the case?

Jerry? Any other BLK Ballisticians? The sharp pain is why I use as intended! [:D]

That's all kinds of good looking!

Dunno, but I have noticed an increase in accuracy. Velocity is great, too.

That's all kinds of good looking!
Coming from you, that's a great compliment! Thanks!

Depends on how you're hunting them. I know of a few people who can down the crap out of them with a .22 LR. Naturally not the best all around choice but it works if you can get in close. The beauty there is with a suppressor his buddies are all dropping all around him and he's just oblivious as to why. [:D]

.308 would be my overall best choice but a supersonic 300 BLK you could probably drop em pretty good in the 1-200 yard range provided you're getting good accuracy.

With a .308 you can roll them boys and it won't matter as much shot placement. The trick to all of it though is figuring out your shot and your follow up shot(s). The pigs are going to run, but just which direction do you want to drive them. Also not over doing it on the scope helps alot too.

.308 would certainly do the trick, but the 6.8 would be my choice with the 6.5G as a close second. I'd be comfortable with the 300 BLK w/ the Barnes 110gr TAC-TX for white tail out to 150 or so, but I think I'd want more energy for hogs, depending on size and range.

Regardless, the OP has built a fine looking carbine that I'm sure the new owner will be thrilled with.
