Can you show a picture of the lower, roll-mark side, along with the QR code? I'm curious to see the machining compared to my supposed "M4 Carbine" marked lower.

    Summary:

    • Will replace Gas Tube; if not up to SPEC (Already have a Genuine Colt, if needed)

    • Will replace A2 Pistol Grip with Grey Powder Finish Genuine Colt (Cost to me $0)

    • Will replace Waffle (Sub-Contractor) Stock with old school Genuine Colt

    • Will have Collar Machined Off, so I may mount a Bayonet

    • Will buy Square Forge Detachable Carry Handle at my leisure

    Bottom Line:

    • Will buy another, nex' time ole missus isn't looking...

A little fuzzy, but I get the idea. Looks like it's the same basic machining that mine has that isn't what all of my other 6920s look like. Not the end of the world when you know you're buying an Expanse, but a bit frustrating when you thought you were buying a 6920 lower.

Not P'cola, Jax. Although I was stationed at Whiting as both a student and then later as an IP.

Thanks, doesn't review this particular model = FAIL.

Here's a link to a short video that does:

I would have no problem going out and shooting the crap out of one of those, but it's unfortunate Colt took this route. Non-Colt parts mixed with Colt parts, assembled by other than Colt. That does not mean that it's necessarily of poor quality, but a lot of folks will not make the distinction between the Expanse line and the regular Colt product.

The Expanse for a lack of a better term is crap.

It's a Colt lower with a mish mash of parts bin extra for an upper. Reminds me of the Colt Competition Series.

Colt OEM1's and 2's are sub $700, which to me is the only way to go if you want a Colt.

Perhaps not if you want a 14.5"? LE6921 might be a better choice.

I've have a 6920 for about 20 years, only back then, the only Civilians who could legally own the whole carbine were Peace Officers.

So, I bought the AR6920DC, which was the Conversion Kit, i. e. Complete Upper & Manual, with the restricted mags stolen by CDNN.

That's what I've been getting at. It's not even a Colt lower. The last "Colt" lower I bought was apparently an Expanse take-off (based off of the parts and manufacturing). The manufacturing itself is not the standard Colt quality and I wouldn't be surprised if it was done by the TX/Colt Competition company.

The lower functions fine, but even fitment isn't the same. I'll shoot it until I die, but it was frustrating to figure out what I bought after it was too late.

Aha! The same element as the piston debate; you knew and bought anyway. Rolling the dice when the odds seem hard to beat, regardless of what others say is a human element!
