The amount of money Colt spends on this rebate, labor, items, and shipping, they would save cost and sell more with a $100 rebate. Apparently their marketing department came from Gander Mountain and the pre-internet world of catalog sales.

Yup.

These crap optics and bags they're offering won't entice anyone. If someone is looking for a true budget rifle, they will buy any number of cheaper options in the market and pocket the difference. A rebate would have helped, a revamped line would be better.

Not really; Colt Competition is Tango Uniform.

Cabela's will still sell you one. I sent Cabela's a note several months ago about their misleading description for the Colt Competition. To their credit, at least now they say that the rifle is built by "Colt Competition"
