    My reason:

    $$$$$$$$$$$

If I got one, I'd have to go all out and get F/A which isn't in the cards

That thing is just plain fun to shoot, even without F/A. And so far, after 254 rounds, it's had exactly 0 issues.

I got to spend a whole afternoon shooting with an MP5 and an MP40. Fully automatic love. The .40 was suppressed and the 9mm had a reflex sight and night vision. The range guys let us turn out all the lights and go for it.

Both of those guns were just awesomely fun.

You know the MP5 is always on my list of wants, both a MP5K and a MP5 A5.

There are a lot of new 9mm PDW type guns on the market now, arguably better than the stamped sheet metal MP5's, but everytime I get to shoot one at our range on F/A or watch some old 80's/90's movie, I come back to wanting a MP5. It's hard to believe no one in the states is producing a high quality clone in decent numbers as iconic as this gun is.

I'm completely with you. I did a bunch of reading before I bought and it seems that, at the end of the day, there just isn't the mass market like there is for an AR or popular pistol design, so supply and demand makes it fall into a higher price point. I couldn't spend $3K+ on a MP5, which is why I was looking at the makers I was. I'm not sure they're worth what DJ Getz and AA charges, but since the market price is what it is, and I know both will stand behind their product, I went with that option. So far, I have zero regrets...other than not having as robust a 9mm stockpile like I do for 5.56. But that issue was taken care of this weekend.

Of course, now I need to start the 3-lug suppressor research, and figure something out before the potential 41P deadline. But that's for another thread...
