Just found out NY can do private ammo orders online! That being said I'm out of work so I cant buy anything. But I will keep this my purview.

I was curious and bought a case of Wolf Gold 5.56 @ .50 per. I wonder if this is for their military. A compare vid showed same performance as the .223 out of an AR.

I've gone through 1 or 2k of Wolf Gold and love it. My understanding is it's kind of the Taiwanese version of Lake City. I.e., it's from the production line that provides ammo to the Taiwanese military. I actually prefer it over AE. It's been my go-to plinking ammo for years. I can't recall every having an ammo related issue. Accuracy is meh, but what I'd expect from any military ball ammo (i.e., it's not any better or worse than any other M193 I've shot)

Brass is good for reloading, too, but has military crimped primers so you have to swage, which is the only reason I haven't rushed to buy more. I'll pay a bit more for bulk commercial .223 like PPU if I can find it just to avoid having to deal with crimped primers when processing brass. If you don't reload, you should still grab the brass as you can either sell or make a reloading friend happy.

Boil, Are we talking about the same ammo? I’ ve probably shot 4K of the gold box .223. This white box 5.56 is also made in Taiwan, but has a different powder charge. SGA lists it as Wolf Gold also. I don’t know if both have crimped primers.

Well, I had simply presumed it was the same but they just changed the packaging. What I've shot is the picture on the top (the gold box). Despite being marked .223, it has crimped primers and annealed brass, which implies a military load.

I found the compare video I suspect you were referencing. Interesting that the 5.56 boxed ammo has a higher charge weight than the .223, but I also noticed the headstamp on the brass changed. If they changed brass they'd have to recalibrate the charge. The video I watch (Buffman) he got overlapping performance and concluded it's the same ammo.

I suspect they've just updated their recipe, but it's good that you pointed out that difference as I'd want to separate the brass between the two as I suspect you'd have to adjust accordingly. Would be interesting to check the case capacity of each to check that hypothesis, though.
