I'm trying to step out of the AR world.

Picked up an SL8 for a G36 Conversion, but not sure when I'll have the free cash to convert. Gotta pick up these hosts when you can. They're getting harder to find.

The conversion itself is pricey too isn't it? like a couple thousand?

I think SL8's are going in the 1800-2000 range, and yes depending on who does the work, it can cost a few grand and up for the conversion.

That's awesome, man. I can't wait to see that! And cost is a very limiting factor in branching out from the AR platform, especially if it's HKs (or clones) that you're after (like me). And with the relative scarcity of host weapons, poor quality knock-offs are bound to become more prolific. And i'd have a difficult time laying out that much hard earned cash for something some yokel is selling on armslist or gunbroker without actually handling it in person first.

I've been trying to get my hands on a Dakota Tactical D54R-N factory SBR for almost two years. It's like trying to find moon rocks. I placed a pre-order for a Brethren BA9 pistol (their "factory" line) that i plan to Form 1, which from what i've read is a pretty decent gun for not much more coin than the MKEs or Omegas that Atlantic sells. I am tempted by the Omega guns. I'm on the fence about picking up an HK SP5K, but only because i'd need to have it re-barreled to run a can, which isn't something i'm terribly excited about having to do to a brand new gun with a $2700 price tag.

That's basically my line of thinking on the SP5K. I want to say it's neutered state is due to import restrictions, 922(r) or some such nonsense. Future collectibility is a draw for the SP5K, however. But i like to shoot my guns.

Good info on the Omega line. I may pull the trigger on one.

Are the sights and optics that low to keep it 1.5" above the bore axis? Does it feel cramped, or not?
