Handgun Picture thread
This was the first handgun that I was able to convince my father to purchase for me back at age 19. (With several modifications)

Flawless. Which is partially a testament to the gun I run them in.

Jerry-inspired 1911 envy? I DON"T THINK SO....BAM!
That's right. An in-original-box Rohm Gmbh RG14 in .22 LR. With hang tags, even.
$31 in 1975 and Gramps overpaid by a factor of two. Along with its predecessor (the RG10), this pistol is a real candidate for "The Worst Firearm Ever Produced." Yup, not just the worst handgun....the worst gun overall. Ever.
Here's the story: I've been trying to get the family legacy guns cleaned and stored after Dad's passing. There's a lot of great, interesting history in the collection. And some ummmmm, less valuable (near-worthless?) pieces. This is one of the latter, purchased by my grandfather seven years after the 1968 Gun Control Act classified this as a Saturday Night Special, halting importation. Somehow (surprise...) it sat around a shop until my poor grandpa wandered in. Every time I see this monstrosity, I can't help but laugh - and was in a perverse enough mood to share it tonight. I thought the red velvet backdrop was a nice finishing touch even though I didn't want to mess with staging and strobes.
It's also worth noticing that this model is closely tied to the Brady Bill - Hinckley used an RG14 in his desperate attempt to woo Jodie Foster by shooting President Reagan (WTF?). The uproar lead directly to the passing of that less-than-impactful legislation.
Heh heh, wait until I can get pics of the Winchester 1911 S.L. "Widowmaker" for you guys. Perhaps the dumbest shotgun I've ever seen - though I'll probably put shells through it someday.Last edited by RiverRat; 16 December 2015 at 00:20.

Finally got motivated enough to take out the camera. Made surprisingly few modifications to it. Installed 10-8 rear sight, 10-8 flat trigger, Ed Brown 25lpi checkered bobtail MSH, VZ grips, did a slight touch up to the internals and smoothed the feed ramp slightly.
