    Scope mounting question...

Folks, I have a STAG flat-top upper and I want to mount my IOR 1.1-4x scope on her. I've learned, through trial and error, that if I want to retain the ARMS 40L rear sight on the upper, I have to use a riser in order to accommodate the IOR rings and scope. (It's a turret/ocular thing).

Using the riser also allows me to attain proper eye relief.

Anyhow, I have the riser mounted, no problem, but my question is simply this:

How do I space the rings on the scope?

Do I want the rings close to the turrets, or do I want to space the rings out, along the axis of the scope.?

NOTE: There is not much room to move the front ring, (due to the limited length of rail on the riser), while still maintaining proper eye relief. However, I do have some wiggle room with the rear ring. Do I want the rear ring close to the turrets, or moved rear-ward towards the ocular lens?

This is a pretty heavy scope, with a large ocular lens.

    Here's a pic:

I would mount one ring as far out on the riser as possible, and the other one as far back as possible while maintaining the correct eye relief.
