Well, I did it. Now what?
So, I finally broke down and ordered a BRN 180s upper. My hope is to build an ACR style rifle that works better than the Bushmaster offering. The system seems to be reliable in what I've read since it's introduction and I honestly hoped to see more on this board. Looking for recommendations on folding stocks; I'm probably going to go with the 180M lower, so that will necessitate a 1913 attachment for whichever stock I do go with. Looking for any other bits of wisdom, advice, etc.. It's on backorder, so no idea when the upper will be in-hand. Lower is not back-orderable yet, so they must be a ways out from having any stock. Anyway, I have plenty of time to figure out this build, so dump it in!

If you want to go ACR - Dan Haga makes a 1913 adapter for the ACR stock. There only question is aesthetics - is the rail on the 180 lower long enough to look like that stock and adapter were designed to go together.
I just happen to have an ACR stock and DH adapter because I was considering Form 1 for my BRN 180. I will try to do a mock up for you to see. I just need to do it in a way that doesn't violate the NFA.

I found a 1913 adapter for the buffer tube hole on a standard AR lower. I have a MI bullet lower just doing nothing.. might get to save a few bucks!

How is the BRN 180 like an ACR? Seems arguably more like a SCAR to me, as the SCAR has a reciprocating CH, while the ACR has a non-reciprocating CH that can still be used as a forward assist. I would opine that the CZ Bren 2 is the ACR replacement.

Well, this was posted on Reddit this evening. I'm assuming the dude that posted did all of the due diligence. I've inquired as to what adapters he's used, will let you know ASAP. I'm pretty sure you would only need the Dan Haga adapter if you go with the BRN180 lower.
By the way - I think this looks great, overall. You are headed in the right direction.

That's pretty sweet. My last concern is weight. There is probably close to 2 lbs difference between that setup, and an MCX- style folder, or MI collapsible system.
Anybody here with an MCX that could speak to its durability?

BRN-180 is definitely on my list.
How do they fit on lowers? That's about the only complaint I've seen on them, is the lack of fit, to the point where they question whether they're in spec or not.

I just reamed a lower and used oversized JP pins to correct a horribly fitting 180 upper for a friend. It was the third one he had received that would not fit any lower he owned. A few of the rail screw heads were also damaged straight out of the box. Neat design but needs QC help IMO.

Mine was a little tight on the takedown pin, but otherwise, no worse than mating up a Noveske upper to a non-noveske lower.
