ACR Alternatives

So back in April, Mike Jones (Garand Thumb) stated that Franklin Armory has alluded to bringing the ACR back. They apparently bought Bushmaster's assets and I hope that is the plan. For now, the PSA Jackl is a pretty decent-looking alternative to the failed effort by Remington/Bushmaster. His words were something to the effect of "Franklin Armory is supposed to be bringing the ACR back, only not fucked up. (Which is a true statement and I pray is the case). I know Rich has an ACR he's pretty happy with; maybe he'll check in with a range report...My poor man's ACR that people snicker at is really a pretty fun rifle. It does all the things it's supposed to do. It fires folded, it's lightweight (at least before hanging all the tacticool BS on it), it's pretty accurate and as a piston system, it's a hella cleaner than a DI AR. It's maybe not a great battle rifle because the ejection port doesn't seal out the mud and crud that never seems to accumulate in my guns when I shoot anyway (And I shoot on private property, not at a surgically sterile range). Nonetheless, the AR 180 (Or BRN-180 as it is) isn't everyone's cup of tea.I have no experience with the Robinson XCR, but it looks nice. The only thing is that it's almost a grand more than the Jackl, that got a decent rating from Garand Thumb, so why spend that cake on a gun that's going to be relegated to safe patrol once a true ACR replacement comes around? One thing in the Robinson's favor is that they brought the support for their rifle; all the barrels are available to buy as a kit (although at a cost). This is more than Remington did, although they did have a SBR add-on, it was too little, too late for the ACR. Reviews seem decent, but again, there's that thousand dollar elephant in the room, and the gun looks a hair frail compared to a real ACR, or the Jackl.People laugh about PSA stuff, but I truly think they are moving into an area of the market they haven't explored with these higher quality clone guns, and that includes the Saber. They have a pretty good copy of an M-110 with a billet receiver set and A1 stock that from 10 feet away can fool a lot of people. There's another gun that scratches an itch for about 14k less than a true M-110 SASS costs.Anyway, I hope somebody has an opinion and checks in, PEACE!

I actually hope they bring back the ACR... I have an original factory SBR, and if I ever need parts, someone will have to make them... then again If they bring it back, I'm sure it'll be like the Hudson H9 and totally redesigned using very few of the original parts.
