Review - Tactical Tailor - Basic 3L Hydration Pouch - 56k no no

Lately the tactical gear industry has taken a surprising turn. The innovation machine has been turned on. No matter what company you look at they all have the same basic design for their hydration bladder pouches. It's the same old, long pouch, covered in pals channels, with a velcro flap at the top. For the first time in a long while, that basic design has changed.

Tactical Tailor released this pouch a while back. I've seen it once or twice on this board, but not on any of the other major boards. So why don't we take a little more in-depth look at what is the Tactical Tailor Basic 3L Hydration Pouch.

The first thing you notice about the basic 3L pouch is the lack of pals channels on the front and sides.

The pouch is completely sculpted. Meaning that it holds its form instead of being a flat, saggy pouch. there is no movement in the pouch once the bladder is full, as the pouch is long enough to hold the entire bladder with no extra room.

The Back of the pouch is the only place you will find pals channels. There are two sets of channels, for use with small malice clips (included with the purchase)

Unlike all the other pouches on the market access to the hydration bladder is on the side via zipper, rather than on the top via flapped velcro.

Another piece of Tac Tailor's ingenuity is this little devil:

The tab show above is mounted through the routing hole for the stem.

Once inside, you push the fastex glide through the plastic hanger on the [red]SUPPLIED[/red] bladder. That's right. I said [red]SUPPLIED[/red], as in the 3L bladder comes with the pouch as part of the purchase.

Being that I'm the low speed high drag, non military, non-Leo person that I am, I chose this pouch for two reasons. a) it's aesthetically pleasing and b) quite frankly i have no reason to mount much of anything else on the back side of my carrier; so i didn't need the pals channels that come on all the others. So far I'm really digging it, but haven't had a chance to field test it.

It really is nice to see things moving in new directions, this isn't the normal hydration carrier, and the extra padding/ fill/ insulation is probably helpful as well.

I'd like to see the sleek look happening with a lot more Pouches.
Yes PALS/MOLLE is a great attachment method.
But I don't plan on stacking more crap on the outside of my already Thick Med Pouch. Maybe a loop of elastic or 2 for a CAT and ChemLight..
I beleive there is a Slick/Low Profile movement coming.

TT has always been cutting edge, nice to seem them branching out once again with a great product for those of us that don't need the extra PALS. Nice job ISHD.

I use their products and found then to be of high quality and ''Made in the USA", which counts for something.
