    ARX (Civ model) vs TAVOR

I've been saving for a modern rifle and I've boiled it down to a couple because of price point and good reviews. I'm having trouble deciding between the TAVOR (16 inch model) or ARX. Both great guns from what I can tell, but I'd like to hear your opinions on these rifles. Does anyone own these weapons? Are they reliable? I already own an AR-15. The bullpup seems like a fun concept, might take some time adjusting to the reloading practices.

    Thanks

I have a Tavor SAR and I've watched quite a few videos on the ARX. I would take the Tavor over the ARX any day. The Tavor is a proven design. Mine has been flawless for thousands of rounds.

I don't like the tiny charging handle and the rail is not solid on the ARX. Maybe they have corrected these problems, I don't know.

I handled an MSAR (not on your list) and to me it felt a LOT better than a TAVOR. That thing was awesome. It's on the want list.

I've only ever handled the ARX, and for me - it seemed a little to bulky. And as Dave said, the CH is very tiny - not as much surface area to grip as compared to a Tavor. I also didn't like the somewhat mushy trigger on the ARX. Plus, I run mostly PMAGs - the ARX is not compatible with the Gen 3 PMAGs. And frankly to be honest, if I were to purchase a rifle other than an AR-15, I'd go for a bullpup - always wanted one haha. And all that aside, the Tavor market has really caught on - which means a lot more aftermarket support. (Granted, I'm slightly biased since I've fired the Tavor a couple times already and love it)

The MDR looks really interesting - would love to compare it to the Tavor side by side.

Not having handled either, cannon opine. But I do have a question --- I understand the unique design that makes the ARX convert from right handed to left handed - pretty cool - but, during the firing cycle the upper is "open" all the way through from both sides. Are there potential downsides to having the internals completely exposed to the elements while firing? I know the cycle is such that the time open is very brief (but frequent). In a perfect world, probably not an issue. Just curious on your thoughts.

I'm on the group buy notification list for an MDR, much like I did for my Tavor, with Pullpupforum.com, but with recent bills and related stuff I'm not sure I can follow thru. I sure hope so... altho I'm really have a hard time deciding WHICH to get. 7.62x39? .308? Already have a 300BLK, so 6.8? damn medical bills... I want more toys!

This was another reason why I like the Tavor so much.

If anyone wants more info about this:
