foam cutter
What cutter do you use in cutting the interior foam of a Pelican hardcase? I am worried if I do it wrong, I will have uneven edges and curve lines. Thanks.

I used the end of a hot glue gun on my first pelican case, and it actually worked quite well.

You can buy a hot-wire foam cutter at any craft store but sometimes they don't have enough amps to get hot enough to cuts smoothly. You can get more power out of them by adding more batteries though.
You can also use a new razor or box cutter but it won't be nearly as fast but you can't get too fancy with your shapes. Hot knife's will work too but they're harder to keep perpendicular when cutting.
Your best bet is to make a hot-wire cutter. There are instructions all over the net.

I used an electric knife like to carve a turkey and mine came out almost perfect.

I've had good success in the past using those extendable utility knives that have multiple scores along the blade length, allowing you to snap off the tip 1/4" at a time as needed. I don't do anything to the blade, but because it is designed to be extended from the plastic holder incrementally as the blade gets shorter, it is an easy enough thing to just extend it all of the way when is new/full length, giving you an elongated razor sharp cutting edge that works well on most foam inserts.
